Why Blizzard?

I had originally submitted a ticket since I wanted to rename my guild and the name was unavailable. Im my ticket I asked if they could check if it was used since the armory had no record of the name on either of the realms im connected to. This took a few days back and forth since their queue time is 24 hrs roughly to get a reply. After a couple days the GM said it should be good to go the name was reset on both realms etc.

It still gave me and Error guild name not availbale so I left it. about 24 hours later I went in to try and it let me change it and pay for it. After that, on the character select page on that toon thats the GM of that guild it said Error with guild name change. :((

I filed another ticket with the purchase order number and in very plain english said -
Order Number: 123xyz
Current Guild name: currentguildname
New guild Name: newguildname

24 hours later the response I received, almost made me burn my house down. The GM said he check the realms and that the name, currentguildname, I was switching to was already taken and I had to pick a new name for the guild.

This person, said the name I currently have my guild name set to was taken. Nothing about the new guild I wanted.

I normally wouldn’t be so angry, but the fact that its taken 4+ days of waiting to have someone not pay attention AT ALL is insane. Now I have had to submit another ticket in reply to that one, to mention they looked up my current guild name, after I expressly mentioned the old one and the new one.

Just…Do better Blizz. Ive always been happy with your customer care in the past, but you’re dropping the ball pretty hard lately.

If you have an “i” in there you can sub a lower case L. I do that when naming pets like Bullwinkle because it’s a name you cannot use I guess so I named my pet BuIIwinkle. Looks the same, but it’s not unusable because I replace the Ls with uppercase i’s making it a completely different name even though it looks like it. .

A name doesn’t have to be currently in use to be unavailable.
If someone has a charter for the name that hasn’t been fully signed yet, or if the name is on the reserved list, it will not be “in use” but would still be unavailable.

That does tend to happen with trademarks. Offering suggestions to get around said trademarks is usually not a good idea.

His name isn’t Bullwinkle though. That’s trademarked. My pet’s name is Buiiwinkle which is not trademarked. I cannot help if the i’s show up as L’s

Well the previous GM from a ticket earlier in the week had cleared the name form both realms so it was free to use. The name is definately able to be used. does not violate any terms or language.
