I just found out we won’t be getting additional talents but that there will be some other system. I was really hoping to be able to get some of the other talents. Even just 2 talent points.

Blizz is trying something new with having Hero Talents from 71-80.

I do not have faith that these hero talents will be evergreen.
Most of them are so bad.

How is this “new” compared to that thingamagig in the covnenants or an artifact weapon?

Its not borrowed power. (No farming or grinding. Just level once and done.)
So technically, “new”. Old/new? Old but with a new flair/twist because Blizz.

I dont’ want all the talents, I don’t want that many buttons. Just maybe, 2 more points, to solidify the branches I have now.

I also think this intentional. Blizzard is likely actively trying to avoid the compounding problem of bloated talent trees that results from ever-increasing player levels.

My take. I wasn’t that impressed with hero talents on the two classes I played in early beta (I’ve not logged into beta for about a month – I played it very little when I did) … I tested mage and a little bit of hunter.
But I’m fine with seeing how things shape up upon release and the few months following when they’ll do the patches they normally do.
Main tree shouldn’t get enough points to fill the whole thing out, then what’s the point? There’s no consequence of choice.
Which btw is a weird thing (IMO anyway) with hero talents… you will fill out the entire tree once you are 80.
I don’t know I like when you have to make decisions and those decisions impact your character good or bad…

You get talent points that go into your Hero Talent system. Each time you level up poof you get to select out of the hero talent tree. That is how it works.
Classes are insanely bloated right now. They have more passives and actives than we’ve ever seen in WoW’s history, even during MoP. I’d argue that we need a prune, not more points.
Its a miracle that Blizzard can balance the current system, with how complex it is. We dont need more talents, and there’s a very good reason most Hero Talents are either passive or self contained.
They’re 100% going to be Evergreen and some will be reworked throughout TWW. We’re stuck with Hero Talents for the Saga, they’re only going to expand upon them 81-90 in Midnight and 91-100 in The Last Titan.
The hero talents are a part of the tree, that’s the point.
