Why aren't we getting more talent points at level 80?

We are.

They’re called hero talents.

You should by now know none of it is evergreen.

I don’t want more talent points, so many extra buttons… Imagine 5 more class talents and 5 more spec talents, optimal holy priest would be so gross. Same with rsham

Honestly, they should’ve just chucked the hero talents into the class talent tree. This isn’t even a new thing, they’ve done this since Legion where you get a new talent or w/e for the expansion, if it’s good it’ll find its way into the talent tree next expansion, if not it’s erased for something better. So why even bother with this whole “Hero Talent Tree” thing?

You’re not understanding. He wants more points in the trees we already have.

what the heck you mean by evergreen?

Because you will ruin the illusion that these talent are not any different than the MoP talents

If players got more class or specialization talent points, we’d have every capstone talent.

Evergreen means a system that is designed with the intent to last expansion to expansion, and not just be a one off system.

Example. Covenants in Shadowlands. They were there for shadowlands. Once the expansion was over, they were no longer used.

Azerite gear in BFA. Etc.

These are not evergreen. Hero talents should continue to exist past TWW.

I’m betting they will be around until the end of the worldsoul saga. Just long enough for the “evergreen” thing to be true. The expansion after that I imagine there’ll be another talent overhaul. Much like artifact weapon abilities and covenant abilities in the past, some hero talents will make their way into our standard talent offerings.

I mean. if they keep adding things for another 6 years…yeah I would expect around that time things would get a bit bloated and it would make sense to have another overhaul.

The decision is to use one hero tree over the other

Can’t we actually point back to glyphs as the original system in WOTLK?

Someone probably already said this, but I think they’re doing it this way because it gives us something to work toward/earn that makes a difference in play as not everyone cares about cosmetics, mounts, etc…

There will always be gear to get though.

It’s interesting to me so I’ll probably try it out eventually when I get TWW.

It’s not another system. It’s more talent points. Just sectioned off because Blizz was too lazy to lock some talents down so we couldn’t pick the whole bottom row.

Well that’s the thing, right?

10 hero talents in WW, 10 in the next one, 10 in the next one.

30 more boxes.

We learned back in Wrath that talents weren’t scalable.

I wouldn’t really miss the talent system. I liked the abridged version. It’s never been my game.

Yeah, but thats why like with Hero Talents almost everything is passive.

Most hero talents just effect an ability you already have.

The current system, I prefer over the MoP style system just for a larger variety in utility options.

Where the hell have you been for the past year and a half?

Yea, I get that. I mean, that’s the real value for folks that like to do that. Situational builds.

If I did that I’d just be screaming at my keyboard “why isn’t 5 doing what it used to do!?” “Oh, forget, I switched to “raid” mode.”

Once I got my DF setup for AOE murderball (which is 95% of WoW content, including low-mid M+), I just left it.

+1 for this, I too preferred the simpler 3-choice talent rows over an exponentially growing choice set as trees. However, you didn’t get a new row of talent choices every level and that made leveling feel a little unrewarding, so Blizz brought back talent trees.

That does give us a point or two every level, but I guess Blizz forgot the lesson from Wrath that trees don’t scale well in complexity with an ever-expanding bottom row for each new expansion. Unless they do “talent-squish” along with item-squish and character-level squish.
