I was really disappointed that Khadgar didn’t turn on me at the end of his questline in WoD. He still chases my orc DK when I need to engrave a new weapon.
Just as I’m never surprised to see anti-Horde sentiment being represented mostly by Human Male Paladins (a.k.a., HuMPas ®). Sometimes, stereotypes have a little basis in fact, eh?
The Blood Elves are just trying to show their earnest comradery with their fellow Horde members. At least we Vulpera have come along to take some of the ‘you don’t belong!’ heat off the poor Belf’s…which usually comes from an Orc or Forsaken. They’re often just as quick as any Alliance to suggest making a rug or scarf out of us.
Eh…it’s all in good fun, right? swallows nervously
I want more Vulpera content. It does feel like the Horde isn’t well represented in the upcoming expac (seems like the Alliance is the leader?). Maybe they’ll alternate which faction leads each stage of the saga?
10.2 is a very Night Elf centric storyline, that can’t be denied, both the main protagonists besides the dragons and the main antagonists besides the dragons are night elves.
I know it gets frustrating if you dont care or dislike night elves, but I’m glad this long story arc that started in BFA is ending, and I think that will be good for Horde storylines as well, finally closing this chapter. Of course there is also the dragon plot at the same time, and thats a bit more faction agnostic.
I may have used my lvl 70 boost to make an Alliance hunter. I still have my Horde hunter, my main since Cata or Wrath. But it sure does seem like Blue Team gets the lion’s share of the lore. And their story is waaay more coherent.
Honestly, this patch for the Hordies I’d love to see some more:
Loa references in the Dream – aside from the single wild god owl ‘Loa’ who just changed their title for mere convenience.
Tauren & Troll druids in the Dream – Tauren especially, since for druid representation & importance they generally get shafted in comparison to Nightelves.
An iconic ‘Heroic’ moment, unaided by the Alliance – Because I’m putridly SICK of the Horde, coooonstantly being vilified, demonised and giving the Alliance the ‘one-up’ in good deeds versus atrocities without much absolution or redeeming qualities to the Horde as a faction from its past … Like heck, if they made Amirdrassil saved by the Horde alone & humbled the hell out of Tyrande — I would LOVE that.
I am glad however, that the trolls & tauren are getting some visage love from some of the cool dragons (though the old ‘dying’ ones, but I digress) so I’ll give Blizz good credit for that
That being said — Yeah, I really do NOT get Alliance at the moment upon the forums stating that this patch - or the Emerald Dream, is “Against” the Alliance & pro Horde … Like what kind of poisoned fel-weed they must be smoking with their spiked Moonberry juice - must be mixing together to give them such crazy delusions.
On a PvP note:
I would love a questline like we had in BFA where the Primalists or Druids of Flame reach out to recruit you & provide a questline for rewards.
“If the Alliance & Horde are fighting together … Then they shall DIE together!”
This a redemption moment for the Horde. Paying your dues for burning down a world tree by protecting a new one seems appropriate to me. It’s a completely Nelf-centric patch. How do you imagine engaging in this story without interaction with or support for the leader of the Night Elves?
“Is it possible?” Sylvanas said. “If we marched an army to Darkshore to take the World Tree, would the Alliance be able to stop us?”
No. Not if the attack caught them by surprise. Not if the Horde could avoid getting bogged down inAshenvale . . .
“High Overlord,” Sylvanas pressed, “speak your mind. Is it possible?”
“It is possible,” Saurfang said slowly, “but not without serious consequences.”
“Indeed.”
“We would win one battle, not the war,” Saurfang said. “If we shift the balance of power, the Alliance will respond in kind. Our nations in the Eastern Kingdoms would be vulnerable to retaliation.”
“Especially mine,” Sylvanas said.
He was glad she had said it instead of him. What target would Greymane demand the Alliance attack but Sylvanas’s seat of power? “I do not know if we can protect the Undercity, not while the Alliance is united against us.”
“And what if they were not?” Sylvanas smiled again. “What if they were divided?”
Then the Horde wins. “How would that happen? If we launch a sneak attack on the night elves’ home, the entire Alliance will seek vengeance.”
“At first, yes. They will be furious, united against our aggression,” she said. “But what will the night elves want more than anything? They will demand that the Alliance help retake their conquered home.”
But the Alliance will not have the strength, not in Kalimdor, not with their fleets.
Again. She had done it again. She had opened his mind to a new possibility, and the world shifted under his feet. The strategic implications spun out before him like the Maelstrom. “It will take years before they can even consider retaking Darnassus.”
“You understand, High Overlord,” Sylvanas said. “Think it through. What happens next?”
“They might try to conquer the Undercity . . . but Darnassus becomes our hostage against that. The night elves will not allow your city to fall if they fear it means you will destroy theirs. The same goes for a strike against Silvermoon.” Saurfang’s thoughts raced. She’s right. This could work.
When the faction war was being written right, and not some braindead plan for “duh Jailur”.
Seriously, i loved the first part of bfa. It really looked like the factions had stakes against each other. Now is all forgiven, because obviously genocide can be easily washed away like that.
