Why are WoW players so spiteful?

I feel like not many games at 15 years old and have these kind of problems

Sheer gaming frustration I would think is the bulk of it, especially for those who identify too much with the game.

Let me point you to eve online forums and forums for that game. That place makes this place look like a day care.

Well but EVE is a game that is (practically FFA) PvP, which allows stealing and scamming and all kinds of chicanery and worse, even applauds it when done cleverly enough. In other words, it’s a very rough, lawless kind of game. You’d expect the crowd there to be very rough because it’s a rough game. Here it’s almost all bravado, because the gameplay itself here isn’t anything like that game.

There’s certain things that make sense to be removed, and other things that don’t.

RNG drop mounts never made sense for removal; it all came down to luck. Stuff that like? Certainly should never be removed.

However, some things are very much so intended to be trophies.
Elite sets? A literal trophy from PvP for hitting benchmarks while competeing against other players.

AoTC mounts? Understandably frustrating, but it is a token for being there in the moment, and it doesn’t look like that system is ever going away. Luckily, they’re restricting such a thing to heroic so it’s accessible to everybody. (Heck, even my boyfriend who isn’t even 120 yet is probably going to get the dragon before the end of expansion.)

People do like having nice rare unique things to show off.
The progression curve was removed from the game around MoP. Old content isn’t hard anymore, there’s very few solo challenges left because of this, and thus carrots needed to be added in other ways.
And sadly, the only way to make things truly have impact is to just remove them.

Sucks, but when you can go into old content and press one button and kill the boss in many cases, they had to do something to keep things exclusive.

the problem is less that people want to get cool stuff for zero effort but its that it feels kinda horrible to start playing the game and see all this cool stuff that you cant get and is often times just a freebie for playing the game at a certain time. the worst example of this imo is the wearbear form because its the only unique model for bear form thats not a recolor with armor

because there’s no repercussions when we’re all anonymous.

This.

Literal Gold Buy carry groups. Nothing better than seeing someone on Jaina’s mount and looking at their armoy and seeing they killed her once. This logic doesn’t apply. Nothing should be removed from a paid service game. You don’t own anything on your character and at any second blizzard could perm ban your account just to be spiteful and you have nothing now. Everything should be accessible in this game, EVERYTHING.

Everything should be accessible if you work for it. Here are two examples of Blizzard discouraging people from working through content, but I have more:

Why was the Azure Waterstride not left with its ability? people complained about having to work for it.

Will I be getting 4500 gold back when they remove Artisan Riding? No, but its going away because people complained about having to work for it.

This was a design decision from blizzard breaking something that wasn’t broke to begin with. Not even in the same category.

No people complained about having something that was avaliable at max level gated behind a time metric system. What does this have to do with content being removed from the game or put on the black market. This is also a design decision of breaking something that wasn’t broke to begin with.

Xmog=/=one single artifact appearance

WoW is a community that trends towards people who are either socially awkward, anti-social, or bitter from life experiences. Incels, single moms, bored housewives, college kids, etc. A fantasy mmorpg will rarely reflect a self-realized and fulfilled population.

Year long content droughts can make a man go mad neighborino.

You didn’t do the content current, thus by your own logic you shouldn’t be able to transmog mythic sets. It’s unfair to those who actually are good enough to do the content when it was current. The tower can be scaled like everything else has, content shouldn’t be removed. Achievements and titles suffice enough. Stop removing content, period.

Now this is how you call someone a Boomer without saying it

Removing the quest lines was definitely insane given how much lore it covered.

It’s also strange how the cape/ring got removed while you can still get every single other legendary except aetish.

And both MoP and WoD had their own “expansive exclusive cosmetics” with challenge modes…

Makes no sense.

I can only say this, I only care about what I have. I don’t care if anyone else has it or if they can get it.

For instance, “I” know how many of the original D1 & D2 sets I earned back in the day. I care about it because “I” earned it, not because of what others think about me because I have it.

I also do not expect to be praised or admired because I am good at a video game. I am old enough to remember when ANYONE who played video games, and especially RPGs, were looked down on.

WHY ARE WOW PLAYERS SO SPITEFUL?

Im absolutely positive I’d get a nice long vacation if i explained the psychological reasons why I think they are.
its just video game.
They take it much, MUCH further…which is a bit disturbing in itself.

Wow suffers from something is wrong, blame someone else or cry and get my way. Then they treat people like crap and so the chain continues until you get a toxic game.

Check out classic, this happens much less often.
