Why are we still talking about rdf? Just implement this system already!

Hello, how are you guys? I hope you’re all right. Whenever a subject that interests me about WoW I come to the forum to read about it and see what the community thinks about it, I posted a few times on the forum, I never felt much need to create a post, but I have witnessed a vast discussion , discussions that have ended up generating disrespect and fights on this specific subject. I’ve been playing the classic since launch until then, I’ve also played SoM, which believe it or not gave me a better vanilla experience than classic itself. Since in SoM I did not witness gdkp or leveling boost, it was fun and healthy, healthier than the state of what classic BC is now.

Yes, the subject is about RDF in the wotlk classic launch and I posted it here in the Community/General Discussion tab because it has seemed to me that this topic is causing problems that are dividing the community.

During these 3 years I played classic WoW one of the things that kept me from having fun in the game is the amount of spam that lfg chat has about people selling gdkp and leveling boost, making you spend hours looking for a group to make a simple dungeon, everything in this game now could be paid with gold, simple as that, since blizzard “legalized” RMT.

So we have three main problems: GDKP, leveling boost and BOTS, yes, we still have BOTS since launch, as absurd as that is. These three problems are linked to one thing, RMT, so what’s the difference between a real blizzard server and a private server where you can buy everything from the website store? None, as there are several sites selling even mounts, reputation and pvp titles. But for the defense of community and virtual social interactions in the search for groups, setting up raids, sharing a goal of making content together, they are saying that RDF will kill such interactions, let me ask please, how? Even though this is true and a button that teleports me to a DUNGEON kills all the social interaction this MMORPG has, why is it worth defending this community which that spammed /spit on those who used the boost to lvl 58 (now the lvl 70 boost lol), or just not did they invite any rogue to their groups at the beginning of classic BC or do they just want to farm player’s gold to sell on websites? See, I’m here trying to find a plausible argument why we don’t have RDF right at the beginning of the expansion, for me I would like to have it in the pre-patch. I’ve read several posts where the community is clamoring for RDF at launch and once again blizzard will stop listening to us. We are not asking much, we just want to do some dungeons while leveling alts, why is there any problem in that?

Is there a good argument why we won’t have RDF? Because for me if they don’t give a good justification or simply don’t implement this system from the start, I’m going to take my wallet to another game and stay far away from blizzard.

Thank you!

I don’t want to chase other players away and while this is a decision that only you can make I believe it is a sound one.

People have been vocal since the announcement was made and there’s been no backtracking or admission that they are reconsidering the decision. It is possible that they are holding it in reserve as a solution well after release of Wrath and players are encountering higher wait times/failed attempts at group composition for example as Blizz did originally in Wrath when releasing the dungeon finder with the ICC content.

If you want to wait for that possibility - there’s no guarantee - and you are otherwise enjoying the game you might want to stick it out. However they may not decide inclusion of the tool is necessary if you do that. They are still getting your subscription money. Hastening that possibility or encouraging reevaluation of the decision might be spurred by cutting off that source of funding by ending your subscription.

It seems like a difficult decision to me as I enjoy the game and it sounds as though you do as well. I would like that Blizz be a bit more candid about this decision as it seems to run contrary to others made that value more player participation. But it doesn’t look likely. I wish you well either in this game or another.

RDF will cause more people to quit if it is actually implemented. Maybe not at first, but it’ll cause people to get bored of the game that much quicker. It’s a catch up / convenience feature. it has no place in wrath CLASSIC. These are the facts.

I guarantee more people have already quit due to not being able to get groups for anything than people will quit over having RDF implemented. People will return to the game. Level to 70, realise they literally can’t do any group content without waiting hours for a group then quit. And you think more people are going to quit because they are able to fill in time that would otherwise be spent afk in a major city with dungeon runs? You don’t play tbc and you don’t know anything about how long it takes to find a group, so you shouldn’t even be putting your 2 cents in.

Try starting your posts with ‘’ I think’’ because when you say things like it’s fact you look goofy

Exactly, thats why people want it. People who play the game know how much better it makes grouping.

RDF was not implemented until 3.3.0 and people were able to gear and raid just fine. It’s ok to have an opinion but this hyperbolic nonsense is getting a bit out of control.

Have you played tbcc before?

I believe we will lose a sizeable chunk of players before p2, regardless of RDF in game.

I also believe that RDF helps later on in the xpac especially for newer people. Everyone else will be raid logged regardless.

Yes I have. Grouping in TBCC was super easy for the first half of the xpac.

I dont think kill is the right word but it does have an impact on one of the larger social aspects of the game - running dungeons.

For example, if youre the kind of player that likes running dungeons you might feel compelled to join a guild to get access to reliable and competent groups since that is often easier to accomplish in a guild setting whereas a pug is more of a roll of the dice and the people in them are less beholden to you. What I mean by that is a guild group has more of a vested interest in helping you get gear or what have you since youre a member and youre going to be counted on down the road in other guild activities.

A pug group is under no such pressure - if the boomkin wants to roll need on something for his tank spec while you need it for your main spec he’s going to take it from you if he or she can because they are just in there to help themselves, not a random they agreed to do a run with.

With RDF, that kind of behavior gets amplified while also undermining the guild structure and the socialization that comes with it. You dont need a guild to run 5 mans if the game is going to do it for you and take away your agency.

Thats a good question but keep in mind, RDF is not going to keep you away from those people. They will use RDF same as you.

Dead game no thanks

It literally makes no sense why they aren’t LFD. It was in the original game so much for #nochanges.

And I literally don’t remember anyone asking for burning crusade or wrath I remember everyone saying “classic”. If they didn’t want LFD maybe we should’ve just stuck to the original game, I don’t know the original game that made this game popular. Instead they’re giving the game when everyone start quitting. Look at the sub numbers wow started falling in wotlk

Someone who says people will quit if rdf is added is clearly trolling.

Imagine saying people will quit because they can actually play the game and experience the content. No one is that daft. It’s just a troll.

Wait til you see the state of the LFG tool on large servers. Then you’ll be begging for RDF…hahaha.

Sounds like RDF would be useful…in the 2nd half of the expansion…which was when it was released.

Will concede this point. I’m not a fan of RDF but I’m also sympathetic to those that either start late or enjoy leveling alts through out the xpac. If RDF was introduced w/ ICC it would not be a deal breaker for me. If they do implement it I hope they keep it realm locked, but again not a deal breaker.

It was supposed to be in at launch, so this isn’t the stronk argument you think it is. It’s not about raiding it’s about people doing content, and to a certain degree keeping it relevant, for longer. It’s about a feature that should have been in at launch to help people level alts and introduce newbies (at the time, and still some today) to the basics of the game prior to end game content.

So tired of end game content being used as the justification for removing a quite harmless, don’t use if you don’t like it, QoL feature that far more want in the game than those who don’t.

What’s really sad is people who think that the real socialization occurred making the group and not inside the dungeon.

There’s also a very loud minority who experienced some kind of kick issue from the group. I ran so many dungeons during wrath and never got kicked as the healer or participated in an unwarranted kick. I feel like some of these people are leaving out important parts of their stories…like:

“I wanted to be an absolute tool belt or get carried through the dungeon while not doing anything and I got kicked.”

If you don’t like RDF, DON’T USE IT.

Leaving RDF out is not going to increase players/sales. It just won’t. People excited for WOTLK, by and large, expect a similar experience. Pulling major features is not creating a similar experience.

Hey Shadoween! Does it make you feel better that they’re including a totally useless and incredibly toxic replacement for RDF???

RDF wasnt a universally embraced feature with zero issues back in original Wrath although I suppose its convenient to forget.
