That’s the nature of compromise, you’re not sure if you lost or won. Technically it was single target, but really was a ‘bad’ AE ability through tab targeting.
It will still be a DPS gain in ST, although only for players already investing on the right side. Left side Momos may not go all the way up for it, and that’s OK. I think that makes for a good talent tree if there are talents you want but can’t have both at the same time.
On the topic of TG shenanigans tho: what are people’s thought on skipping Master of the Glaive in the class tree but going with Fel Bombardment in the Havoc tree? Would it be worth waiting for the FB proc to stack to full before casting? Would hitting TG whenever there’s a charge be a loss? Curious on the theory here.
I think with that build you’d want to use Throw Glaive prior to casting Immolation Aura to apply Burning Wounds, while holding Vengeful Retreat for refreshing Initiative for the last 6 seconds of the Immolation Aura.
Then I think holding Throw Glaive and Fel Rush until IA wears off for a final big double tap on the target.
So at 6/7 seconds remaining:
Sigil of Misery (will blow in 2 seconds I think)
VR to reset initiative and get Momentum
Felblade back to target (Fury!)
Use other abilities
IA expires and Ragefires
Fel Rush
Throw Glaive to unleash as much Fel Bombardment damage
Felblade back to target?
I can’t wait to play and figure out little combos. This is what I love most about DH, finding what fits best and where. Any class that relies more on intuition and experience and less on simming and theorycrafting, that’s where I’m happiest!
Was that 6k on ST or at the end of an AoE throw with Mo’args? Also, how does the DoT work, does it refresh or stack with consecutive throws? Either way, that will be rather good given the the application and I’m really looking forward to playing Soulrend (a.k.a Bloodlet). I feel like all the people who are saying this is weak, its pointless or that is too strong blah blah blah, are basing their opinions on things from SL era design. I am confident in saying, that those of us who did play during legion and experienced Bloodlet, it was fun and viable. Sure, it has its cons in certain content, but it was from what I remember good overall.
The only thing you’re actually forced to take in the havoc tree that is throw glaive related is mo’arg’s bionics, since it gate keeps dancing with fate. Hoping they swap these two talents soon!
Obviously we also need to throw glaive the demon from fodder, but who cares. It only procs every 45 seconds or so.
it was with full bombardment stacks that don’t ever fall off, and i was just throwing glaives when there was nothing else to press.
Soulrend stacks just refresh.
And fodder to flame is a bit overated, you heal for 25% hp when you kill the demon and then another 20% from collecting the soul. And get a damage amp afterwards.
Elysian decree you heal for 60% of your hp , get a full fury bar and do decent damage, the only thing is you need quickened sigils for it.
Gotcha, was curious if there was incentive to double stack the dot or not. Guess it’ll just be a refresh when falling off and or double throw on pack larger than 4 for the chance to apply to more targets.
I know what I plan on doing this weekend though, gonna hop on PTR.
Tab targeting sucks. I’d rather throw a cool glaive than cycle through and force it with demons bite. Now we can take demons blade and not have to worry about it.
Please don’t advocate tab targeting for spreading dots. It’s awful and clunky.
Doesn’t really matter any more what you or I like, because they added back in our fury generators to the activation list. So now you will have two ways to apply it, pick the one you find the easiest.
Respectfully hard disagree with the anti-TG build sentiment. I am beyond happy that they are giving us a Throw Glaive build. I missed the hell out of Bloodlet and am thrilled to see it return - but seemingly even better. And I don’t have to sacrifice the other things I like about DH builds like my blade dance or my DA.
I’m more excited to play my main class in DF than I have been in a long time.
I’ve always seen TG as more related to heroic throw on warrior. Great for pulling adds, but other than that it’s just lackluster and kinda boring.
Would’ve rather seen a brand new skill to be honest, something like a burning slam where the DH jumps into the air in meta form and slams down, knocking enemies down and applying the BW dot.
Or even something wild like removing the stun from chaos nova, reducing it’s cd and making it spread BW and do some moderate instant dmg.
I dunno man, anything but heroic throw applying deep wounds would be interesting.
TG build it shouldn’t be a problem, it’s an option, if you don’t like it don’t take it. It is also not something new during Legion TG it came to be used to maintain phlebotomy.
i dunno, i want to like mo’arg but i can’t. perhaps if it was reversed, doing more damage first then falling off…
something like 50% extra chaos damage, falling off by 25% per target would take the stink off of having to weave TG in the rotation, for most players, i guess
