Right, which is what I typically do. But inflation this expansion is insane, so I guess it matches reality.
I like WoW, I’ve played for almost 20 years now. I don’t want to quit playing WoW, but other MMOs are adapting to their player base and are doing a better job of respecting how much time their aging demographic can invest. MMOs are not pulling teens with unlimited time anymore. We’re the boomers of gaming.
Ya. That’s generally how it works. There’s no way around that without breaking the game’s economy even further than it already has been. Modern wow has the token though, so you can offload the chores onto someone else if you really don’t want to do anything but treat the game as a lobby game.
That’s like 3-4 hours of mining/herbing, even if you’re super inefficient per month. Log on 30 minutes before the raid, or stay 30 after and you’ll have your upkeep covered assuming you raid twice a week.
Or just set aside an hour each weekend. There’s countless ways to easily make gold this expansion, you don’t even need to engage with crafting.
This reason is so overused, I don’t farm anything and I don’t have to buy tokens. I have actually paid for my sub with gold for a couple years now just dojng world quests.
In Dragonflight it was races for 500 gold those have been nerfed but those “survey picture,” world quests are often up for 800 gold per and other similar world quests that give gold with minimum effort.
I am sure that is what they would like you to do, but a super majority of “upkeep” is actually player economy related inflation exceeding the passive gold you get.
Repair costs alone are not that much unless you are progression raiding, or pushing keys a little beyond your gear/ability level and dying a lot. Easily covered by the 800 gold world quests that pop every week. At least for the most time crunched people, for people with more time, they need to either buy a token or gather.
You can’t overuse a fact. Just because you know how to farm enough money to stave off the token doesn’t mean the absolute lazies won’t buy it. Its existence alone is pure profit.
So giving someone the choice to buy a token is a bad thing? I’ve never understood the seething over the token, it’s 100% optional, and it’s trivial to avoid needing. In fact, it’s existence allows you to play for free.
What are you even talking about? The OP is complaining about costs being too high. I am stating the costs are funneling lazy players into spending money for the token. That’s it.
You’re having an argument over the merits of the token in your own mind and regurgitating it back onto me.
No t wasn’t just a handful of players, gold really started to become hyper-inflated in WoD with the introduction of the garrison. you could just log in for 5 minutes do your round sin the garrison for herb/ore table and you could easily make 10k gold, and that was just 1 character.
Doing 2 of the weeklys nets you 2300g alone. Most of the World quests out there give you 830g+
There are plenty of ways to accumulate gold to offset these expenses.
Also…how are you dying this much? like ok if you’re raiding for 2-3 hours straight, i can see that it would be expensive…but out in the world? Delves? yikes.
Tokens – They want you to buy tokens – more money in their pocket! If you have not seen it as of late, everything they are doing is around selling tokens.
