Because there was nothing wrong with regular flying except Pathfinder. There was no reason to waste all that dev time building a crappy flight sim bolt on for WoW. I would rather have artifact weapons or azerite armor back. The only good thing about DR is that it demonstrates that the game is flight ready immediately and there is no longer any valid reason for Pathfinder.

They litterally walk upwards its kinda a walk glide with a slight drop walk bit more up drop the drop is about as much as a jump up and down distance.
But they chug chug around I farmed a few around cobalt area for sparks lol.
The sky box is already there normal flight kicks in if you die you can fly normally back to your body ghost form.

Well since I can’t continue until I do these dragon riding quests in the campaign I gave it another try. After taking 3 hours to get through 5 rings and land on target now I have to dive and do the rings and target all over again. Only problem is they don’t say how to dive and I haven’t a clue how to dive. So here I am waisting another 3 hours to complete this quest for what. How many more of these quests I can’t do must I endure before I can go back to playing the game I wanted to play.

Faster is not always better. For me, id prefer normal flying for gathering because its far easier to target your objective, than it is when you speed past it.
Its not useful at all for gathering. I dont CARE about divebombing. I want to get to that node, mine it, and move on.

Until you test it yourself, (and read the weird threads of PvPers actively campaigning to get rid of regular flying), it’s immaterial what you’d argue since you’ve no first-hand info that’s easily acquired.

How many more of these quests I can’t do must I endure before I can go back to playing the game I wanted to play.

There are 4 quests total you have to do dragonriding in, with the 4th one making you fly a further distance to a different location. You have to use your mouse to angle your camera to tilt the dragon up or down and press 1 or 2 to use it’s abilities. I think there’s a 5th quest after they teach your how to customize the dragon so that might be a thing to worry about. You might be able to jump down from the tower it makes you get up on and then just take the FP back.

I’m sorry, I know it’s annoying but hopefully that helps you get past it. If you want to after that you can get dragonriding glyphs to make the vigor less of a constant hinderance or you can ground mount and FP

GOOD. flying ruined pvp the way it was. Tgis flying actually has function in combat, and takes some measure of skill to use. The original flying mechanic was derp. Basically a slightly nerfed /noclip mode.

Thanks but at this point I will probably play like I did SL. Bring my alts to this point and work on only low level toons. I got by playing and enjoying myself because I do things a simply as possible. My fighting mechanics are different than others. The only keys I use on my keyboard are the direction arrows. It took me a year to learn how to use a flying mount. My fighting is by using my mouse to click on the task bar for my attack mechanics. With my ptsd I have had to retrain my brain just to be able to function in public and then the community has to help me out at times. This is just too complicated for me to deal with. But again I thank you for your help. Beats hearing sucks to be you from guildies.

No problem! And hey, if it helps, I’m glad to hear about the way you play. You are having fun and that’s all that matters. I’m so sick of people who try to be snobs about who should and shouldn’t play games, and what kind of playing is “right.” All the ageism and ableism is nuts.

I just thought about it and this may help. Dragon riding players can enable an option that lets other players be passengers. It works like how druid passengers or the sandstone drake works. You might be able to do the quest that way, but I’m not 100% sure

I did the first quest one ring at a time even going through one ring backwards. If that is how I have to do it to get past the quest then I’ll give it a try. I just don’t want to be playing one ring at a time for the next 2 years.

Here is an easy how to do the dive.
Walk to the edge and just fall off. Use the right mouse button to aim/steer. Aim down to dive (hold right click and drag down). Then level out with the horizon - hold right click, drag up. You should have enough momentum to make it through the rings without doing anything else.

Get All Your Dragon Riding Glyphs

Once you get the ability to start getting glyphs to advance your dragon, stop questing and go gather them. This will allow you to maintain a glide (slower, constant speed) which is better at preventing the motion sickness since your character isn’t constantly bouncing.

Great news is you only have to do this once… EVER! Once you get them on one character you have them on all as they are account-wide. So it’s worth doing as soon as you can.

Some tips I found when doing this:

• Use this time to practice and learn flying. I am assuming that is kind of what this was aiming for.
• Take your time. If the glyph is high up and you run out of vigor, sit down as high up as you can and leap frog up. It’s slow and annoying, but doable. Remember only have to collect them once.
• When you go to land to recharge try to land as high up as you can.
• Take this time to also grab flight points while out.
• If you get down to 1 vigor start looking for a landing spot. Always have one in case you have to get out of an unsafe area.
• Once again… take your time. Enjoy this trip around the map. When landing to recharge explore a little, find herbs/ores, fish, tame battle pets, etc.
