You could use attack power gear on your mage but that would not make them into a physical dps. The game allowing you to gear wrong does not equal the game supporting a bunch of builds.

Boomkin is not really a good benchmark for dps sense they would go oom mid fights, was a meme spec and the only reason for you to bring a boomkin was so that you could get that spellcrit aura.

It was not, if you went into a raid melee people would laugh at you, melee hunters was a meme in orginal vanilla that was only played by people that did not know how the game worked.

No it does not since their kit was focused on being melee, just as hunters kit was focusd on staying ranged no matter how you speced.

Ye this is starting the feel bizarre, make things up, then lie about making things up, then lie about the lying. Its starting to feel like some sort of victim complex, i’ve never brought up what should be done about current survival but they cant help themself to continue trying to argue about it and then act like they are attacked.

This is why I don’t respond to his posts. I don’t believe he’s sincere about his stated opinions. The #1 thing I don’t entertain in these arguments is people posting stuff they don’t believe in and they know to be false.

To clarify, I do think he supports SV being melee. I don’t think he believes his own historical account of what SV was in Classic.

Disengage is a very old outdated mobility skill.

Fact Disengage use to drop aggro and that was all it did. Then they designed it to leap you backwards.

Now if your good you can Disengage turn around in mid air, and with the speed boost use it when Cheetah on CD. Also can fall then Disengage before hitting the ground and take no damage.

You are comparing a meme spec where to dont take into account the buffs they bring to a meme spec where a good chunk of you dmg is attached to you pet that does not scale with any attributes.

And nightfall was not added until 1.6 so you clearly did not play at launch. And using nightfall as proof for melee hunters is just silly. The only reason you would want a hunter on it is due to the spamability of wing clip that increased the amout of procs. And even if you brough a hunter to use it they would still be specced deep MM since you still wanted to hunter to bring trueshot aura. Trying to tie hunter for being melee cus they were one of the potential wielders of a niche item just show how much you are grasping at straws.

Compared to ranged:

arcane shot
distracting shot
multi-shot
serpent sting
tranquilizing shot
Wyvern sting

So no your kit was not focused on being melee. The vast majority of you kit was still ranged

Hunters lack good mitigation and turtle is far weaker than bubble or ice block. Facts.

mitigation is required when bosses just do passive unavoidable damage.
