Why are people so obsessed with everything in this game being "dark"?

Ehhhh

Don’t get me wrong, Wrath was great, but Arthas was starting to feel like a cartoon villain. He would show up, monologue, then disappear in a puff a smoke with echos of “I’ll get you next time…”

That I can agree with, but then again, that also happened in wrath a couple of times. People just forget about all the light hearted areas and quests. I guess more character development and talking is what it killing it for people.

Like andiun going through his thing is kinda getting old. I am waiting for him to use power words and shadow words to smite and dominate people.

lol…getting back to that creepy little girl in Drustvar…accurate on all points.
Definitely started out kinda ok…then she got all weird on me lol.
Drustvar was dark as far as Im concerned…and done overly well. The questline was so compelling I sat here for an hour having to go to the bathroom so bad I was rocking in my chair, but couldnt put it down…

It does not, same as having nothing but care bear bubbly goody two-shoes ones either.

I also had to do the thing with the kids so I could buy Smoochum’s Bloody Heart, to get the fat ghostly cat as a pet.

Totally worth it, for the vibes alone.

Wrath of the Lich King and Shadowlands–these were aesthetically my favorite expansions, also Burning Crusade up there, and Legion too.

I think wow has dark stories but not a consistently dark aesthetic, which is fine. I’m still here and prancing around on my unicorn pony at Mount Mania, so the game is fine for me with the mix of dark and heavy elements. A bit more dark I wouldn’t mind.

Well, you know, his armor weights like 1500lbs. And it’s not like he had Death Grip. That’s a DK talent.

speaking personally, that is some of the best content this game has ever provided.
Whoever wrote it up should be promoted witha huge raise and told to make more great content like that

I think people mix up dark with good writing, because a lot of good things have come from “darker” stories. While light-hearted usually comes across as flat.

What the game needs is just likeable and hateable characters. I personally think WoW definitely been lacking in likeable department lately. They’re all either moody or too righeous. Xal’atath’s feet are okay as a hateable antagonists, but I wish they focused on her herself more.

One thing would go a long way in game to make things dark…

Make the game world cycle through night and day, and make nights as dark as Darkshire everywhere at night.

It’s like a casino in this game

people need it to reflect their mental state. hah!

Dark? This game is one of the wokest toon-towns out there.

Only a matter of time before this thread attracted some weirdos lmao

a lot of people are very insecure in their maturity, and need to be constantly reassured by the media they consume that they’re grown-ups. it’s the reason shows and movies aimed at older teenagers have so much sex, violence, swearing, drug use, etc.

most people outgrow this insecurity as they enter the adult world and build families, careers, etc.

some just stagnate and will always need those reminders.

It’s the fedora squad that thinks all things dark and edgy are cool, whether it fits or not.

They are actually almost mutually exclusive. People asking for “dark, mature” writing just want Saturday-morning story writing so it’s easy to follow.

Idk man, the game has always had “T” slapped onto the side of the box. Why people expect more depth and complexity out of that is behind me.

yeah, that’s the other funny thing. any sort of complexity beyond “this guy evil, that guy good” is bad writing to them. it’s wild.
