Why are people excited for the stress test?

You misunderstood the post then. 4-6pm is a SPECIFIC time period that they will be monitoring the servers. That’s it. Beyond that, the server will stay up until Thursday ~6pm. It’s a full 24 hours. Not much. But it’s something.

Where did we hear 6pm Thursday? The invite email states:

Once the stress test period is over, you’ll be able to continue playing on the stress test realm (up to level 5) until Thursday, May 23.

Technically Thursday begins at midnight Wednesday night… so it’s possible we can only play until Midnight PST.

The point of the stress test is to give them information on what’s going to break.

Then they take away the stress, fix the bits that are breaking, and try again in a month. And then repeat and try again a month later. All this “I only get to level 5 then lose it” nonsense is frankly offensive to those of us who want to make the game as good as it can be on launch and didn’t get randomly picked.

You never should have opted in if the game isn’t worth your “valuable” time.

As others have stated, it’s about getting to play a game we haven’t had access to in over a decade (yes, retail is that different from vanilla, and has been for a while). It’s about getting to be part of the hype and excitement. It’s about helping Blizzard, even in a small way, to make August 27th the best WoW launch yet. Most of all, for me, it’s because things are going to be CRAZY. Hogger raids, pvp battles wherever the mobs won’t kill us, massive lvl 5 groups dying their way to various locations, a lot of very excited players making the most of the short time they have to enjoy WoW the way it used to be. I’m thrilled that I got an invite (very sad for those who wanted to and didn’t), and I wouldn’t miss it for the world.

2. I’ve been in WoW stress tests before, and they can be fun

Were you around when they did the Dalaran FFA stress test during Legion? That was loads of fun.

I could understand if you got a beta invite. Yes that would make everyones day. But from what ive seen if you get a stress test invite and show up to it, youre not automatically invited to beta. Playing a toon all the way to the exciting lvl 5 just seems like a waste of time. It would make more sense if blizzard decided that if the servers can handle it then all the people who helped test get a beta invite. From what ive seen and read thats just not the case.

You aren’t as excited or addicted to this game as I am… every 10 min. of me being in the stress test will be heaven…

I like it when people are really excited or interested in something… I wish I could be fascinated and excited about most things, but unfortunately I am not. An example, I wish i was interested/excited about coding… but I am simply not lol… no matter how much I try, I hate it, it constantly stresses me out because I am a low-key perfectionist when it comes to problem solving…

So the few times I really excited about something… I love it.

To be honest with you, I’m just happy to be involved in whatever is going on with Classic. Even if it’s just for a few hours for a stress test, I’m so excited for Classic’s release that I’m happy to help however I can and have fun doing it. I would love to be in the beta, but if this is all I get, I’ll do my best to be helpful and enjoy the time I get.

People play games to have fun, it sounds like you do it for other reasons. Thats fine but, from your post it seems like your are angry at others having fun. Good luck with that thought process.

Frankly, even though it is just until level 5, that gives me a limited enough window that I can realistically level every single class in the game to “max” and play around with them all.
