They could prevent creation of new characters in the overrepresented faction until a closer server balance is achieved. Blizzard is in complete control of this game. They could implement this in a hotfix if they wanted.
If they want to roll horde, they can roll on a server that needs more horde, or vice-versa for alliance.
Or there wasn’t anything they could do. You keep assuming there was some magical solution, but Blizzard chose not to use it. I think it is 100 times more likely that there IS no magical solution.
Turn down customers? Refuse to sign up new customers? That’s crazy talk. No corporation does that. Never did, never will. If a new customer wants to start off as Horde on Michelobserver (because he has a friend there), that’s going to happen. Now. Today. There are no waiting lists to become a Blizzard customer.
And if there are 10,000 more customers that want to play Horde, that is 10,000 more subscriptions. If you were running a business, would you turn down 10,000 more customers? Stop thinking this is a country club for YOU and ME, and realize it is a business whose goal is making money.
Veteran players are NOT more important than new players. It is the opposite. New players are more important than veteran players. 99% of veterans leave eventually. If they aren’t replaced by a steady stream of new players, the game dies.
People who are upset about something come to the forum to post the problems they see. People that are happy with “the way things are” have no reason to post here.
So it makes perfect sense: in the forum, many posts are complaints.
But those complaint posts start discussions, and people on both sides make comments in those discussions. As a result, Blizzard sees a variety of opinions and ideas from players. It’s all good.
Sorry to burst your bubble. TBC is not better than retail. Despite the many changes in retail that make it BORING. The game has constantly been improving. Vanilla and TBC was a game in progress. Not sure why everyone wanted to go back. I’m having a terrible time grinding it out wasting my life on something I’ve already done. Time to move on folks. Should be complaining about retail and pushing Blizzard to make it more like classic with the same features that are in retail.
People complaining makes then feel better about their wasting of their own time. It’s human nature. They see themselves as doing nothing wrong and that is the biggest problem.
