If this was TBC we’d be in SSC/TK right now
You have 15 year olds that grew up on Retail and all of its clones. They wanna join in on Classic because that’s the cool thing right now, but none of them have played an early 2000s MMO before.
Basically they thought they did, but they didn’t. They wanna keep the elitist status of playing Classic while not having to deal with any of the grinds or hardships.
It’s just zoomers being zoomers.
For me it began at Blizzcon when they announced the boost and certain gameplay changes. But more sothe boost…which I thought would be awful for the game (since it was originally), and turned out to be even worse. But Blizz is making a fortune off bots buying the boost, so that’s all that matters.
Anyway, right then and there it was obvious Blizz was no longer interested in attracting the Classic crowd. They wanted to bring in Retail players by letting them skip 58 levels. And then sell the mount, those toys, the ridiculous clone cost. The tenets and design philosophy of Vanilla and TBC were abandoned to make a quick buck.
TBCC wasn’t about recreating TBC. It was about the same thing Retail is: milking the whales. The quality of the game and the experience mean nothing. Authenticity was thrown out the window.
This is just how Blizz runs WoW now: make a bunch of money with expansions (including the deluxe pass), then get players on long sub times with a bonus (you get a pet in TBC). And by the time that’s done…just try and hold on. Maybe add another cash shop item or 6 month sub prize.
And it’s not going to change. No matter how many leave for better horizons (like ff14). All Blizz will do is manipulate those who remain even more.
But I’m not miserable. Just a little sad.
Sad the the pinnacle video game company of years ago has turned into such trash.
Member the collective chimp out this forum had about those clones? Everyone wanted to clone their characters so they could “play both versions” and in trying to appease those people the whole prepatch launch got messed up.
Member how it was all for nothing because Classic servers are all dead and all those cloned characters that everyone had to have are just sitting there in a perma character select screen?
This community is such trash. They don’t know what they want. They just echo YouTubers and streamers whose teeth bleed while they’re sleeping.
As I said before. People that take the time to come to the forums, generally aren’t doing it because they are thrilled with the state of the game.
I understand people that come here and they are “not thrilled with the game.” What seems to be happening recently is that players that HATE the game come to the forums a lot to talk about how much they hate it.
Somewhere in the transition from “not thrilled” to “disdain,” we lost all sense of constructiveness and productivity.
probly cuz were tired of waiting in 45 minute queues just to get steamrolled by a premade?
Most of them are un-serious trolls. PVP in the game is kinda a mess so folks PVP here instead.
Retail players wanted easier, and they’re crying for dual spec, LFG, and other stupid retail garbage that ruined WoW years ago.
Veteran players didn’t want final patch balancing, ability queueing, or anything to make it easier. Hell, we wanted buffs to bosses to account for hardware upgrades which are an indirect nerf.
We got the halfway. With a compromise, everybody loses.
They thought they did but they really didn’t .
Being misterable is FUN. You didn’t get the memo!?
oh hell no! I played retail and I absolutely HATED shadowlands. I’m having so much fun with TBC just the way it is.
People on the forums have always moaned about the state of the game. Majority of people who are enjoying it are too busy to comment on here. The misery filled flock here and blame the game for them not liking it. When the truth is, it’s just not for them anymore.
you love me really
I suppose I thought if any adjustments were to be made they would have been to help the faction imbalance problem. I was very wrong. It’s far worse. The changes they are making will only increase the faction imbalance. It’s disappointing.
CDO… Get it right man.
My guess is because they have someone pointing a gun to their head forcing them to play a game they hate and support a company they despise. Either that or they just want easy likes to feel validated in their misery.
It’s a combination of sunk cost (primarily time) and comfort. They don’t know what to do if they just stop playing, and it feels like a waste after so long to just leave. And the familiarity of it brings them back because they jump into other games and it doesn’t feel, “right”.
People are literally trying to turn TBC into mini retail with FvF mode and other nonsense. There’s too many retail tourists here.
Blizzard abandoned these forums to automation. They get what they deserve.
Blizzard’s complete lack of communication might have something to do with that. As well as the devs’ apparent indifference, if not outright disdain, for the playerbase.
Well this, and if the recent leak is anything to go by - and none of it is surprising or unheard of - Blizzard no longer sees its customers as players, and are merely consumers to be, “caught”.
