Why are macros a thing?

This isnt really what macros are for.

Im thinking you dont know what macros actually do.

Because I don’t feel like hitting two buttons to summon my VW fast…or imp.

I always copy/paste my macros into a text file on the desktop.
If I make a new hunter, I’ll copy/paste them into the new one.

I d personally prefer if they drop the individual character macros (if necessary) and just allow like 500 macros or more in the general area.
The per character ones arent always enough. Not by a lot. If theyd double the individual character macro slots it’d be more than enough, but often isnt enough as it is.

Also like to see the 255 character limit doubled without having to use another garbage addon that will end up trashing my macros entirely.

Yes. lmfao

Yep, I don’t use healing addons, just mouseover macros.

oh yeah, pet management macros with start attack and the like are super useful and save buttons, as you said.

I have that one on my rogues. I also have this one that allows me to pickpocket without targeting anything:

#showtooltip
/cleartarget
/console targetNearestDistance 10
/targetenemy [noharm][dead]
/cast Pick Pocket

I have my own Discord server that I post macros and scripts to, as well as UI and Addon support for anyone in my guild. I’m kind of known for it.

The only macro I really ever used was a mouse over interact macro back for mythic carapace to use the gateway under 20 people since they had not added the item yet.

Outside of that is has really just been mouseovers for multidotting on a warlock or a /tar spam macro if looking for a particular rare.

It is all in the game though. You can min/max your char without a 3rd party website. How do you think the people did it before?

I have no idea, since WUT isn’t a real word.

The other post was about rogue hunting, and since SV hunters are good in PvP, many other rogues don’t like them. This caused me to ask if you had a SV hunter to do your rogue hunting. If you like, I’ll draw a flowchart for you next.

The new mouseover toggle option has been pretty welcome for a lot of my mouseover macros and freed up some macro space. YMMV

#showtooltip
/cancelform [!noform,@target,help]
/cast [@target,help,noform] Wild Charge
/cast [mod:alt,form:4]Wild Charge;[mod:alt]Moonkin Form
/cast []Wild Charge

Without them, I wouldn’t be able to make my kitty disengage like a hunter by just scrolling my mouse wheel.

Sometimes it’s about the speed of a sequence of actions and not just reducing ability bloat. I would want macros even if they hadn’t bloated abilities. I do hard agree about the ability bloat, however.

Class based macros would be the best with a limit of 30-40 maybe.

i have /yell “It’s a .22, PEW PEW PEW” macro’ed into my rapid fire.

people might get annoyed. but i love it. and that is all that matters.

Roleplayers use macros for things like /laugh /talk without having to type or have to remember some specific emotes.

I can actually see an argument for why Macros and/or AddOns are “bad”, but it’s way (WAY) too late for the discussion.

WoW’s always had both, and always will.

If anything, I feel like Macros are a bit more limited in scope than AddOns, but any objection you or I might have to either won’t get much but disdain from players who have -rightfully, since Blizzard allows them- long grown used to them as a part of the game.

I have 1 macro. Misdirect to pet. Thats it.
