Would it be too difficult to make classes a bit more engaging and less bloated where players don’t have to macro everything together. I never got into the whole macroing this ability and that ability a thing. I wish the game as a whole never had it exist at all.
Really shouldn’t have to rely on 3rd party programs or websites to find out how to get the best out of your character. I know, I know, players have been doing it since vanilla - ie. using allakazam or thottbot. I just feel the game would thrive if the game was all encompassing and had the information in the game available to the player and was streamlined.
As someone who does/did higher end content, I’d agree. There’s way too many core abilities in this game now, and that goes for just about every class. Ability bloat is rather overwhelming, and there just aren’t enough globals to reasonably use them in a manner that feels good.
i am no sophisticated macro writer, but they can set up easy, but useful tasks like being able to hot key a dismount together with a warrior charge. I always set up a target macro for when i am running around in the world trying to find a mob. I usually have the macro put a skull on the mob to make it easier to spot. or you might be a warrior who wants to swap between dual wield and sword/shield or a rogue swapping poison weapons. of course some people put together long cast sequences and all sorts of complicated strings. but sometimes, for me, simple ones are useful.
You realize macros are more than just putting two spells together to make your life easier, right? It allows us to do different things, in many ways get the best use out of our characters. On my hunter, i use about 30 macros. Either bound to mouse with different keys, mouse overs, and more.
If you want something cookie cutter and boring, go play destiny 2. You get a nice amount of 4 spells ever, super fun.
I personally don’t use macros for anything, except for a couple of certain non-combat things. For example, I have a macro that toggles whether things are shiny or glittery because some things are hard to see one way or the other.
There’s more to macros than just macroing abilities together
Have you tried playing holy paladin or fistweaving mw or disc priest without the use of mouseovers or addons that replicate what mouseovers do? Have you tried healing 40 man epic bgs without mouseovers while still contributing damage?
Same thing with focus/arena123 macros. Just makes everything so much less complicated than not having macros for those functions
I use macros a lot to give abilities different icons, since so many class ability icons tend to have the same color palette, or like Divine Steed, where the number of charges I find hard to see using the default icon .
I wish blizz made mouseover a default setting. They added ability @cursor but sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. I also hate macros because they limit per character macros to like 20, plus it sucks having to make new ones if you’re on another character of the same class. Just another outdated system that needs updating.
