Why are macros a thing?

I use macros to do some minor things, mainly just adding RP text. My example, I cast Avenging Wrath and have it macroed to yell “Light, give me strength!”. I have another for /mountspecial to save me time from typing it out. For my monk, I have him shout “WATTAAAAA!!!” as he uses Flying Serpent Kick, or “Pandoken!” for Chi Burst.

Long story short, I use them to be goofy.

“I find Macros intimidating and never took the time to understand them so nobody should be able to use them”

That sound about right?

The only macro I use is a “bow” of thanks when another player helps me kill something (I usually don’t need the help, per se, but it does speed things along).

Because Micros would be too hard to see.

If the Microsoft merger actually goes through, then maybe this game will go through a metamorphosis into mixed reality with the Microsoft hololense. This makes virtual reality look ancient, since there’s no additional controllers needed, because all controlling in the digital world is done in open space , and you are interacting with holograms. Microsoft has the second generation out for a while now, whilst Apple has yet to release their 1st generation mixed reality device. I can hardly wait for this to be implemented into this game.

One of the most important macros.

Have one specifically for PvP to target nearest enemy player, sap, and then clear target.

Great for rogue hunting.

Macros allow us to create commands for things other than abilities.

For example I have this macro which summons a mount based on my location:

/run UIErrorsFrame:Hide() C_Timer.After(0, function() UIErrorsFrame:Clear() UIErrorsFrame:Show() end)
/use [dragonridable] DRAGONRIDING MOUNT;
/use [noflyable] GROUND MOUNT; FLYING MOUNT

On a SV hunter? I’ve heard that rogue players don’t really like SV hunters.

Playing a holy priest will change your mind quickly, so many abilities to press and not enough easy to reach keys to get them so I macro them to modifiers and mouseovers

I use Help/Harm macros on all my healers to save Button space. Same thing for macros with conditionals to get more abilities into less Buttons.

Macros are incredibly useful and I have no clue what Blizz would need to do to get me to stop using them.

FYI I used to have a Mount macro like the one you posted but a friend reco’d Litemount. It’s great.

Yea thats what i originally made it for cuz i used to pvp, but i dont anymore

wut?

I have a macro I use for mounts, basically, if I can fly, it will summon my chosen flying mount, if it’s a dragon riding only area it brings out my chosen dragon riding mount and, if it’s ground only, hey, guess what mount it brings out then

I used simple English, so please reread it again for a few more times.

If you were playing a hunter, would you prefer to move your mouse to the tank’s nameplate, click on it, then press your misdirect button, and then press your damage ability? Or would you rather consolidate those first three actions into a single button?

I know you would probably say that you’d prefer that the game have less ability bloat, or perhaps even misdirect automatically selects the tank, but that also takes away the skill cap of the player, and the dynamics of choosing the exact thing to do for every situation.

If you were playing a disenchanter, as your profession, would you rather click on disenchant and then click on 100 pieces of common items that you’ve farmed, or would you rather just press the same button, over and over again, to eliminate monotonous mouse movement?

Maybe you’re the kind of person that likes to do a hundred extra mouse clicks and movement, but not me, and not many other people.

Macros help people with monotonous tasks, and make the game more fun for a lot of people. Macros cannot combine multiple abilities that require multiple GCDs, into a single button click, so they don’t offer any competitive advantage. They simply streamline gameplay. If you don’t want to use them, then you haven’t lost anything over those that do.

What does your comment have to do with my original post?

macros arent required. Just play without them.
I prefer using them because I enjoy toying around with them. Not like they are required.

Right.
I use some very simple macros that just do something I want to do without having to make an extra keybind of it.
Such as

/cast Loot-a-Rang
/petfollow

So when the combat is over, I loot with the Rang and pull my pets back to me.
Nothing game breaking or world shaking there…but one less keybind.

Lets just say I would delete my druid if they took away macros. My shapeshifting one alone… If that ever stops working im done with it. =P
