Major Lore Character #1: “We just captured a major enemy, yay! What now?”
Major Lore Character #2: “Let’s refuse to kill them because of moral high ground
reasons and toss them in a prison?”
Me: “M-maybe we shouldn’t do that? This whole Garrosh thing happened at least 5 times now-”
Major Lore Character #1: “Brilliant! Throw them in the stockades! It worked great for Garrosh. And Saurfang. And the many other people we took hostage. What could possibly go wrong?”
It’s the only way Blizzard can progress the plot. The Alliance is pretty powerful even after Legion, if they don’t have the characters do dumb stuff like that + give the Horde unlimited numbers even though all of their races are supposed to be near extinction.
Its just your standard mix of Plot Induced Stupidity, bad writing and willful ignorance. Happens all the time in fictional works and even more consistently in WoW.
I mean imagine if Garrosh was just executed. Doesnt matter who does it hes killed in a short span of time post SOO. WOD, Legion and BFA dont happen. Lol. Storywise thats a hell of a load off the factions, the world and various leaders and armies alive.
In books, in the RTS’ etc the writing is pretty great. But so far in BFA after seeing Sylvanas not kill Malfurion herself when he was on death’s door right in front of her I can’t help but get angry at Blizzard. She’s all about not taking changes and smarter than leaving it to Saurfang who has now rebelled etc. It makes no sense for her character to make such a decision.
Then there’s the whole night warrior thing. The ritual is so dangerous and OP yet nothing really happened to Tyrande or friends and not only that it’s like every other kaldorei became a night warrior seeing as they all have the eyes in Boralus. Not to mention the kaldorei forsaken abandoning their home and siding with the people who killed them only seconds before lol.
Their “too important to kill” which makes no sense
that’s why everyone loves Game of Thrones,
a random side-character cuts off Jaime Lannisters hand because hes a prisoner.
Just because you a fancy royal dude doesn’t mean you should be immune
That’s why Varian’s death was so shocking. Blizz killed of a major Alliance hero. But on the other hand, Vol’jin’s death to Demon Soldier No. 6356 really didn’t feel shocking because losing a Horde Warchief felt like normal at that point.
But if it wasn’t for our esteemed leaders lapse in judgments we wouldn’t be needed to clean up their messes.
You’re talking about a game where dogs and cows can use guns and wield magic, and your gripe is that we didn’t kill a not-so-bad bad guy when we had the chance?
I might be the minority, but i found Vol’jin’s death somewhat shocking. Not the part he died to a random mob, but his death scene. I liked that cause it wasn’t Overdramatic simply put.
