Just like you’d be bitter if Druids lost their 4th spec but then move on like you did with Locks.
Anyone can play a DH.
Few can play a DH well.
So why do people hate DHs?
Honestly, every class gets hate from someone. People moan, complain, gripe, and bellyache about other classes all the time.
Someone gets destroyed by a rogue in pvp, oh noes rogues are OP and need to be nerfed!
Someone gets destroyed by a firemage in LFR damage meter, oh noes, firemages are OP and need to be nerfed!
Someone gets destroyed by a havoc DH in M+ damage meter, oh noes, hDH needs to be nerfed!
The vast majority of the class hate I’ve seen, regardless of the class, comes from one of two reasons:
- Envy. They hate how much damage or utility or whatever that other class has and thinks either the hated class shouldn’t have it, or their own class should.
- Bad experience in pve/pvp. This can either come because of a player who is completely inept (wow that was a crap tank! that entire class must suck!) ruining a run, or because of a player who is so good at the class that no one else in the group can compete (see #1).
End result: who cares why people hate Demon Hunters? The class is fun as heck to play! Enjoy it and ignore the naysayers!
People seem to focus their hate on classes or specs that perform well with little effort. It was the same for DKs in Wrath.
People are just envious that a class that is so simple to play can perform better than most others.
I think its due to how OP dh is and how easy it is to play it some what well.
In pvp they have tons of mobility, lots of useful annoying utility like interrupts, 2 stuns, lots of gap closers, Manage burns and a super easy rotation which does tons of damage in arena. If it wasnt for all of the RMP/Destro locks in arena right now i would expect DH to move from top 5 to top 2 dps participation spot.
As for hatred in pve , i can see it being sorta the same. It has a easy rotation which allows DH to worry about mechanics not the rotation itself. Whereas most specs are a little bit more engaging and require more effort.
DK is not really hated anymore though. DK was hated back in WOTLK because it was overpowered in both pve and pvp. DK did huge damage and had super strong utility and was one of the best pve damage specs and tanking specs.
But this isn’t true. How is Havoc any easier than Assassination Rogues? Arcane Mages? Fury Warriors?
Every spec these days has a minimal rotation. My Outlaw Rogue has LESS on his bars than my Havoc DH.
Because they make threads like this.
If you stuck to your own litterbox as my post suggests you wouldn’t even know about it. Bad kitty!
Havoc is the easiest spec to play in the game. YES, other specs are easy but DH is the easiest.
They have heaps of mobility which allows them to get to places quickly if they are slow to react. They have a super basic rotation (Most simple builder spender rotation in teh game).
At least on outlaw you have to keep buffs up. DH is literally 1 builder and then 3 spenders (2 of which are on a longer CD). The only difficulty with DH is managing fury before a eye beam.
I main feral druid, and playing DH makes me want to give up hope in blizz class design devs.
How it isnt? I have a lot of Mythic+ runs with both and lets compare with a 5 adds pull.
With Assassination i need to be sure im on stealth before pull, then i have to lay down my 3 empowered Garrote (Suberfurge talented), Rupture and enemy and put another Garrote tho not empowered as the 3 before.
Then you gotta spam Fan of Knives to get combo points to Rupture the other 4 adds while keeping and eye on the Garrotes to try to refresh the most you can.
Meanwhile as Havoc you just get in then Immolation Aura, Eye Beam, Death Sweep, a couple of Annihilations maybe 1 Demon’s Bite to get Fury for another Death Sweep.
You dont have to track anything and even tho it looks like both are pressing the same quantity of buttons it aint true because as Assassination you have to tab around the adds to lay down the bleeds something none existant for a Havoc DH.
I agree that Assassination aint hard, but actually does take way more to do that Havoc.
Which spec Affliction as thats what 99% of you warlocks run. Sorry but this is not a valid argument. No you are just upset that there is a class that is built to kill your pets and you. And now your salty about it.
He’s talking about Demonic spec. Which in truth was pretty dang fun back in the day.
Bud, if you can’t be bothered to check the facts before you type, at least get yourself informed first.
I’ll make it super easy for you - we have 3 specs, pick which one you think has the word ‘demon’ in it.
And no, i’m speaking on a general scale. Not every warlocks hate DH, but certainly quite a number of them do. And yes, it is not the players fault for what happened, but it was easy to direct the hatred.
I do understand but if you look at the history of demo. It was hardly ever used until blizz changed it late in legion. Almost every warlock i have come across was Affliction. I was trying to show this as what was seen generally in mass from the warlock community.
Its just the most widespread with DH. Its like the culmination of bad.
As someone who has tanked thousands of group activities I can, from a massive sample group, soundly state that these discussed behaviors are encountered at least 2 >1 more frequently with DH in the entirety of my experiences. Way worse than the DK fad at it’s peak.
Why are You so bent on class discussion segregation? Do You play other classes?
It was a much used spec in MoP, and it was dominant in WoD.
It was dominate enough that it gets a blanket 25% nerf across all major spells.
Legion changed how the spec works from ground up, and many disliked it, which understandably so.
ps: Just to prove my point, a reference.
Imagine the Head Designer tells you ‘i don’t want you to play your spec’
I am not bent on segregation. And yes I do play other classes. I’ve played this game since vanilla. I have played and enjoyed a Rogue, Hunter, Dk, Priest, Monk, Warlock and a Mage. My Hunter (Flushotz) was my main and I got AOTC or very close to it in every xpac from TBC to WOD so please save that silliness. And when Blizz turned my main ranged toon (that I had been playing for well over 12 years. Since the pet would run away if it got too hungry) into melee I didn’t go mouthing off in another class’ forums. Tried every toon at some point. And as I said I have never been on any of those toons and went into another forum to tear a class down. Keyword being discussion. We get flamed. So it made me ask the question: Why is that?
Considering I mained enhancement shaman right up into they messed the spec up so bad in wod. They might as well have said hey we want Enhancement shamans to be a non played spec like demo. Everything that made enhancement fun and unique was gutted and or nurfed. But unlike warlocks that got a decently redesigned spec for Demo. Enhancement is still a mess.
Well, i can somewhat get that feeling of negligence, which seems to be a common thing these days.
But it’s one thing to feel neglected, it’s another when you are blatantly told to the face: No, i prefer you play something else. You can imagine the shock and ripple on our faces when we saw the QnA - the official QnA, mind you, not some reddit AMA or twitter text.
Consider it a blessing that at least they did not come up front and tell you ‘we intend to keep enhancement frozen’, even though it seems that way.
I agree with this. The warlocks I know have only played affliction so they were like meh what ever. I was shocked that they felt that way. Then the changes to enhancement started coming. They took our totems and then returned them as pvp talents or talents. Stripped us of our ranged shocks which were awesome and allowed us to do something when we could not get in range to melee. And changed how our weapon imbuements work and made them into active abilities just for rotation filler. They took away our survivability when they removed healing from our wolves and nurfed our casted heals so they were more like tickle heals.
And to think the devs were ok with leaving enhancement shamans like this… Ohh thats right they play elemental and resto.
So yes I do understand how you felt. And if i had mained a warlock even though I have a warlock no matter the spec i would have been upset. Because they could say that was ok to say that about the specs they do not play. The game is supposed to be about playing how you want to play.
