You okay dude? Maybe have some coffee or something.
Yeah I’m chilling
The data that the majority of people pick the most optimal covenant? How is this a failure? It just shows that people tend to be very number oriented and don’t care about cosmetics all that much. People that do so, like me, chose the covenant based on other factors…
Yes, just like each class could only access it’s order hall campaign. Nothing wrong with that. It just gives you a reward for making alts. Just like the division of horde and aliance locks half of the game away from each player.
Yes, just like how dailies make you wait a day before you can do the next set of dailies. Also nothing wrong with that at all. It is actually way more interesting than just dailies since you can optimize your time in the maw and do more the more skilled you are, which is usually something you can’t do with dailies.
… For many that was a lot more than 3 days… which makes it that much funnier.
Going to back to the concept of choice. Choosing to play the meta is a choice. If every option is viable for the content you do to reach your goals, being “meta” on every piece of content has no meaning behind it.
Two abilities! People seem to forget about the others, which can actually come out very useful when utilized properly… or maybe. Night fae is definately the best IMO for the same reason blink can be utilized to trick out mechanics, with many tanks using the vial from Kyrian for cleansing bleeds/necrotic. I personally rather like the the Necrolord shield for pre-pulling/downtime, but limited to the other two. Venthir… ok fine, outside of chests, too hard to use without it being instant. I hope they make that change at some point.
It’s not even really the meta though. It’s like I said in an earlier post, you can have a covenant that is great for pvp and absolutely terrible for raids or mythic+.
I shouldn’t be gimped in content I want to play because of my covenant choice.
I think here the point is that switching covenants at will based on the content you want to do is playing the meta. Not having the BiS covenant or conduit isn’t true gimping, despite what people are decrying. Anyone can still perform just fine in PvP, M+, and raids from any covenant.
I mean as they continue to balance things it’s definitely getting better but there were certain classes that were gimped hard by their covenant choice initially. But yeah you’re right
“We should be able to swap between covenants freely” = treating it like a talent row.
And what’s in quotations is echoed by a lot of people. Therefor a lot of people “think it’s a talent row”
People don’t “think” it’s a talent row. People want it to be a talent row and they’re right, it should be.
Semantics at this point.
While I don’t fully disagree with you/the people wanting them to be a talent row, I think they should just do away with covenant abilities as a whole, and just leave the story/cosmetics in place.
And freely swapping between BiS covenants based on content is a bit cheesy.
Having 1 extra ability doesn’t make you god tier in one form of content, and then dog poo in another. That’s literally just your class. Covenants abilities are just enhancing your current play, by giving you an extra ability.
Although there are some specs that excel in all forms, I don’t think we should be allowed to freely change covenants to allow us to be S tier in all content.
That’s the “meaningful” choice that I’m assuming blizzard wanted. Pick a covenant for a reason and stick with it.
Changing covenants to be the best in every content is no different than world first runners having 3-4 alts maxed out and ready to go and swapping between characters as needed. It’s more work that way, but it’s doable. So a couple day time restraint on swapping covenants isn’t a bad trade off.
Not perfect, but could be worse. As someone mentioned, we could be hard locked in to our first choices (which would be fine by me. I picked based on theme/aesthetics anywho)
Yeah this is the move.
I mean Condemn for warriors does make a massive difference but honestly it’s irrelevant at this point.
When it comes down to it for me the real problem is that the current covenant system is anti fun. The covenant abilities are really cool and I’m forced to choose only one of them which sucks.
If they’re going to add abilities then they should be talents but I have no issue locking cosmetics to things like covenants.
Because its proved for the majority of the player base to NOT be a meaningful choice at all… Like what?
Not really the greatest comparison considering you can’t change your class… Like at all… This is an arbitrary restriction that doesn’t seem to serve a purpose outside of stroke the devs egos. Prolly why so many are abandoning ship at an alarming rate…
Woof on this level of copium tho… Some of the best zones WoW has put out had dailies… but didn’t straight kick you out once you do a few of them… Its just really stupid design to limit access to an end game area like that at all. Look I get it, there are ppl who if tomorrow Blizz turned the game into Pong with an Anduin paddle on one side and a Sylvanas paddle on the other side and they would still play it and praise it. Doesn’t mean Blizz hasn’t made horrifically stupid decisions that run the game straight into the ground.
Two abilities technically, and in some cases cov choice does change the playstyle quite a bit
I haven’t touched my Warrior this xpac, but from what I understand, it’s just a reworked “execute” isn’t it? I mean I understand it’s like 40% of their overall damage lol but yeah.
“Meaningful choice” kek
Yes, a large portion of the player base prefers to not make choices and instead let guides play for them. Nothing wrong with that.
How is this relevant for the point I made? You told me 3/4 of the content is being locked. On legion 11/12 of the order hall campaigns were locked.
Yes, just like the arbitrary decision that you can’t do the other classes other halls on your character…
I think this is more related to “Longest opening patch in wow’s history”
Really? I don’t remember a single hard daily in wow’s history. And yes, they do kick you out. After you do a set of dailies you need to wait a day before the next set of dailies. You just have a more rigid set.
Yes, it is designed to limit, just like dailies. The idea is to encourage the player to come back the next day…
Blizz made a ton of horrific stupid decisions, but I don’t think this is one of them.
Yeah but it’s usable between 100%-80% health in addition to the regular execute range plus it does shadow damage and gives you an absorb shield from that target so it’s wild lol.
Yeah lol. There are just sometimes I wish I could swap to my kyrian or night fae ability for random BG’s or whatever and it’s silly that I can’t. They put all this work in to create these new abilities and I can’t even access them all lol.
I’m a big fan of the Kyrian “health stone.” Most of the time I use healing hands, but when I go with selfless healer, it’s nice to be able to pop 3 instant heals (4 with an actual health stone, and 5 with a potion) back to back.
What are you doing that you need that many self heals back to back!?!? Lol
PvP
That checks out lol
