Why are Azeroth's moons always full?

I’ve seen the Blue Child over Stormwind several times, but I had to be looking for it, and I had to stay up until about 1:00 am my time. I think it rises over Stormwind after midnight server time. The White Lady rises huge and brilliantly shining over Stormwind harbor around 10:00 pm server time.
When the Blue Child can be seen, it rises in the opposite side of the sky, and much lower in the sky, than Elune.

Well if the moon’s orbit was tilted relative to the orbit of Azeroth around the sun, there could be a situation where the shadow of the planet never falls on the moon.

Um … you DO realize that our real-life moon doesn’t appear as a crescent (or as a quarter moon, or as gibbous) because of the Earth’s shadow, but because of the angle between the moon and the sun, right?

Just like shining a flashlight on a tennis ball, the sun only light’s half of the moon’s total surface. If you view that half-lit ball from any angle other than directly in front of its light source, you’re going to be seeing part of the area that’s unlit.

In fact, if it WERE the Earth’s shadow that caused the moon to appear less than full, a gibbous moon (where it’s about 3/4 full) would be impossible. The Earth’s shadow would look like it’s taking a little bite out of the moon instead, like it does during a lunar eclipse.

And this is what bugs me about Azeroth’s moons. A real full moon is always directly opposite the sun in the sky. But Azeroth’s moons can be much closer to the sun than that and still be full.

If you think that’s annoying, just think about how Shadowmoon Valley is under an eternal eclipse.

If she doesn’t want to see me do what I do, she can look away. I get the feeling she likes watching, though. And who could blame her? I am very thurough and creative in the act of murdering vulpera in as painful way as possible without damaging the pelts to sell.

…what? What did you think I was talking about?

Also:

Why are you allotting sickos? Is it going to end up in some kind of purge? May I lend you my expertise, then?

EDIT: oh wow, 5 year necro… the guy I replied to probably isn’t even with us anymore… oh well, time to get a shovel!

I forgot it was from a google result, and the thread looked interesting.

That’s generally how it happens.

I dropped a sick Moon Theory in that post, I will save it for the bext opportunity.

necro posts are ok if they’re within topic. I always like looking at the Moon in SW. It be cool to see in actually stages of becoming a full moon.

The White Moon of Elune seems to only switch to certain phases if a Priestess is channeling a specific face of the Moon through a ritual and that puts the Moon in the sky around that specific area permanently.

I would assume the Blue Moon works the same way.
