Why are all cool forms locked behind difficult content?

We want more forms but Blizzard always seem to enjoy locking them behind difficult content. Why can’t we have some glyphs for cat and bear already? Like I don’t understand? lol

Gotta feel special don’t we? Lol

They should be locked behind a grind of some sort. Not a challenging grind, just a long grind.

Hard pass.

Please no… I can’t stand long grinds. I’m all for customization but if I wasn’t able to cheese tier 6 Korthia with the NF assault rift farm, I’d STILL not have any sockets or anything. Lemme crush a challenge or just buy a glyph lol.

Why are all the cool cars so expensive?
Why cant we all have a Lamborghini?

Essentially what you’re saying.

You want it, work for it.

Sure. But not every cool looking form has to be that way.

If it was easy to get and everyone had it, it would no longer be cool.

Always used to say wish we could just steal a form from the wild similar to how hunters tame pets. Some exclusive ones can be behind challenges or grinds.

And this is the kind of thinking that just promotes Elitist attitudes. If you think something is cool, and everybody has it, why does that detract from it being cool?

It doesn’t make it less cool in your perception, that means the only reason you thought it was cool in the first place was because it was special because you are one of the few people who can have it. If the only reason you think it’s cool is because “I have it and you don’t” that is just a horrible mind set to be in in the first place.

If I got something cool and other people got it and liked it too I would be happy for them also getting enjoyment out something they also like. Shouldn’t have to be able to derive joy from being able to hold your shiny thing over everyone else’s head and say “Ha! I’m better than you and you can’t get this.”

well to be fair - when everyone has the same thing, and the quest or challenge to obtain said thing is nerfed from challenging to world quest difficulty - i don’t think the accomplishment/reward is “cool” anymore. That’s how i feel at least, and I know many collectors/achievement chasers/competitive players feel the same way.

there’s plenty of examples of items/titles/mounts/etc./etc. that lose their glory when everyone gets the same thing (especially when it’s “handed out”) - blizzard understands this and has stated that’s partially why they don’t bring back signature rewards from certain past achievements - because it diminishes the accomplishments of those players. Which is true - there are two sides to this argument and i think both should be considered without implying someone is an elitist or a noob for taking either one.

And as far as the OP - I agree with you. we are getting a ton of crittershapes and soulshapes which are temporary forms of borrowed power - when I think many Druids/shamans would rather have some more permanent available forms and customizations added to their respective classes. Especially in the form of glyphs/techniques.

Shapeshift Forms are also a signature feature of the class - and it would be safe to say - any druid would appreciate more effort and content poured into this area of our fantasy and not only locked behind the uncommon, and often tough achievements.

Look at moonkins for example - we’ve had one glyph for years, and nothing done to the actual beast version since. They can at least add some more to the game like they do the others.

Why are you making this Negative?

Forms being obtained behind difficult content is what makes them cool. Earning them gives the player a sense of pride and it’s a sign to others of their hard work.

If the content isn’t hard and every druid has it… that pride is lost. It’s as simple as that.

When I got my MT form , I sat outside the tower in my new form amongst 6 or 7 other players who also just got theirs. We were not there to brag or tease others. We were congratulating each other and giving tips to people who were struggling. It was a proud moment for all of us, and that’s only accomplished by making the content difficult.

Being proud of an accomplishment doesn’t make you an elitist.

I mean, honestly. The form could have been a pink banana suit and it would have been just as cool. It’s not what it looks like, its what it represents.

There are many other bear forms with multiple tints that are easily obtained. Go look cool in one of those if that’s how you feel.

No one said this to you.
You’re saying it to yourself.
You are your own worst enemy.

If I had a dollar for every time I heard this… Because two reasons. One is uniqueness is cool. And two people like to be rewarded for hard work. This is just part of life’s truths and there’s nothing wrong with it.

I don’t believe most people on forums who say they don’t think that. I think they’re arguing in bad faith just so they can have the items for themselves, which is a selfish and toxic attitude. I mean, it’s the most recurring argument that the rewards are ugly recolors anyways, yet they seem to want them desparetely (save guardian skin). Could it be they’re also enticed by their specialness? I bet if the mogs were easy to get they’d get a one week use before people go back to their unique mog finds and people would complain they’re not special.

Take the tree mount. Undoubtedly one of the coolest mounts ever. I mean, it has to be, it was voted for. It changes colors during seasons. And yet gets almost no use. People ride the spell Tome more on a day to day basis despite it being really hard to get.

Like I said above, people like to be rewarded for investing hard work. People also feel diminished when their hard work is invalidated with nerfs or giving away stuff.

People are holding the line too hard on this subject under the “Challenge”. I say Let it go, its a game. This Form doesn’t mean what you want to everybody.

If you throw enough gold at this, it no longer becomes a challenge.

Their thoughts are irrelevant.

It’s a reward for myself.
I know what it took to earn it and that feeling isn’t influenced by others.

If others earn it through other means, They won’t have the same pride associated with it.

Money doesn’t by happiness.

I’m not saying that the bear form from the MT shouldn’t be there. I’m saying why can’t we have more unique models from glyphs and such? Like look at moonkins. No new forms at all…just a glyph. I mean it’s sad to play a class that’s based around shapeshifting yet we get so little in terms of forms.

Because new forms were never promised.

You’re acting like blizzard is required to give you new forms every patch simply because youre a druid and you deserve them?

Nah, son.

Oh Tical. The only druid against the druid community.
I never said anything about Blizzard promising us forms nor did I say anything about receiving them every patch. More frequent new forms is what WE want (We as in druids who enjoy cosmetic things). More unique models. You know? (Probably not)

And don’t call me son.

But that’s the thing…how often are you going to use all these new forms? Or are you going to get one you like and stick with it and ignore all the others?

How often does one change their cat form, or their bear form, to get use out of all the different versions/skins available to them? Answer is: hardly at all.

Why should they go through the troubles of making all these forms every expansion when no one is going to use them?

Why should they go through the troubles of making new armor appearances if no one is going to use them?

Well because some people will. If I’m playing feral and I’m stuck in cat all of the time it would be nice to have some more options for cat. Maybe bring the claws of shrvahla form back as a glyph or something or maybe add some questlines for druids to get some different forms.

Because it’s usable by multiple specs/classes.

New cloth line of armor is available to Mages, Warlocks, Priests, which is 9 different specs.
New bear form is usable by…bears

See the difference? And you’re proving my point of me saying:

By saying:

This is the one you’d stick with. You claim it’d be nice to:

But let me ask again:

Feral/Bear has quite a few options, you just don’t want to use them. You want one specific one that you’ll sit in until you get bored of it because you won’t use the options and variances that are available to you.

Just like most people keep the same transmog set and regardless of what type of armor/weapon they get, they just mog over it and go back to what they like.
