I think you can make a decent argument for not allowing addons to access combat log information about other players in instanced PvP to stop tracking other players cooldowns and what not. No real reason to disable addons entirely though. If I want WA trackers of my own cooldowns so I don’t have to look at my action bar icons at the bottom that’s just a basic UI feature.
Some people in this thread also seem to be confusing hacks/third party programs like a kickbot with UI addons. UI addons are a built-in part of the game and can only do what Blizzard allows them to do. They’re not cheating even when you sometimes have “content creators” screaming incoherently about them in videos and what not. Third-party programs that read the game’s memory and take actions for you are already against the rules.
Im not sure if this add on is still around, but when i did pvp in like Cata this add on used to voice call CDs, i felt like it was cheating since u can instantly vanish or use def cds , or disarm
I agree. UI mods that just allow you to reshape your gui should be about all that is allowed. All the rest I think should be auto disabled when you go into pvp in a battleground/arena.
I think for world pvp it would be a lot harder and they should just be allowed for simplicity, but for queue pvp no add ons would make a more competitive skill based game.
Option A: Unable to select text, right click, “search using google”.
Option B: Condescending response to show that you neither know, nor care to know about the person in question, and attempt to invalidate their opinion because they’re “no one you know”
The fact that you need add ons, and not more skill is the exact issue we are saying the game has. It should be about who is best on a level playing field.
Everyone has access to the exact same addons. It is a level playing field. Refusing to use addons is intentionally handicapping yourself. You’re about 30 years too late for that conversation when it comes to mods and Blizzard games.
It takes skills and knowledge of the game to setup the addons and know what you need, we don’t use the default settings of any addons, heavily modified, you sounds like “you don’t know what you dont know”
It takes skill and knowledge to even understand what the addons are telling you. These “level playing field” people are absolute jokes. Even without addons, they wouldn’t get a single kill against players that can hit 2k rating.
Reminder the base ui doesn’t even show you or tell you what CC dr’s are
addons in PVP need to go and information like DR’s need to be visible in the base ui
Lol, no you’re totally right it was more fun without addons. I had the most fun with my rogue without any in game sound, just music in the background, and being hyper vigilant/unpredictable.
