It is in fact doing exactly that. Using addons gives you 360 degrees of awareness in a 100+ yard circle.
Itâs not. Keep coping though.
Le sigh man ⌠Saying things like this really devalues your point. Add-ons are dumb. Calling them cheating is more dumb believe it or not.
Thereâs been a lot of getting ganked and absolutely decimated this week in random bgs (1 to 30 lvl range) I mean slaughtered, donât even had a chance to regroup kind of matches. Since Iâm new to it all, reserving possibility that am just bad, and my team is just as bad.
Also if those add ons are available I donât want them. I donât really think watching 10-20 different cooldowns is the kind of multitasking I want in pvp. Thereâs already enough going on as it is.
I thought you were a pvper. Maybe you needed some addons to prevent losing this arguement.
Itâs cheating thatâs available to everyone! So therefore itâs not cheating?
BGs are mostly filled with bots and npcs
They are mostly used for arena not
BGs.
I am a pvper. The difference is Iâm not a terrible pvper.
That would imply im losing it when Iâm clearly not
Except for likeâŚthe OPâŚin this threadâŚwho said the exact opposite?
Q: Why are addons allowed in any content (not just PvP)?
A: Blizzardâs intent by publishing the API is to allow players to make addons
They do have rules/policies for add-ons⌠allowing alerts for abilities, interrupts and CCs, enemy CDs & debuffs does not seem to break any of those policies.
Ranking has not meant anything in any blizzard game since original StarCraft and Warcraft battlenet daysâŚ
⌠And even then it didnât mean much except that you had no life and didnât enjoy playing the game and so rush rush rush.
Then make your own, you have the same access to the api just as everyone else does.
New PvPers are not playing against 2700s. Your base MMR is around 15-1700 if you havenât done any PvP that season, which is a low tier of players. Now sure if a 2700 gets on a new character and smurfs it they might, but thatâs an issue with any game that has a PvP ranking system and canât be avoided.
If they want to play PvP why wouldnât they? Do you think someone jumped into Counterstrike for their first game ever and went 30-0? No, they got trashed. Name a single PvP game where someone who has never played it or something similar before can walk in and immediately be good at it. Thereâs a learning curve just like any other game.
Blaming addons for this is hilarious. Even if they didnât exist new players would still get wrecked by veterans until they learned how to play.
Heâs definitely not losing the argument. Youâre making yourself look like a fool.
Oh is that why expansion after expansion pvp participation has gone down dramatically? Its just too much fun so people donât engage with it. Gotcha. Makes complete sense.
The part that these comments rarely considers is individual preference. Yes, there are a lot of examples of information that is displayed nonsensically or not at all that should be available in the base UI. I agree wholeheartedly that Blizzard relies on the fact that the community has solved many of these issues with addons as an excuse to not prioritize adding those things themselves.
But at the same time, a lot of addons began as a single person or group identifying something that would make the game better uniquely for them. If I identify something that would improve my gameplay experience in the morning, I could have it implemented by lunch. I donât need to wait for some feedback to work through some development process at Blizzard. I donât need to worry about it being important to enough players to warrant prioritization. I donât need to spend time building customization options for other players. I can simply build what would make my game better for me on my own timeline. If addons were removed, none of this would be possible, which would be a significant hit to how many players enjoy the game.
Itâs not cheating because blizzard actively encouraged and allows add-on use cheating is something thatâs against the rules.
Seriously man youâre only hurting your own argument by saying dumb things. You make snoz look reasonable when his points arenât great either.
Doesnât matter man. A new player or pver or whatever is still showing up with no gear, no knowledge and no add-ons. Going 0-6 in shuffle multiple times in a row (because theyâre not getting into any groups in lfg with none of that stuff).
Then youâre surprised that we have zero new players to PvP? Add-ons are 100% part of the problem. Theyâre required right now because the base ui is actually terrible. But youâre letting blizz off the hook for hiring people to do this crap when they make insane profits off selling the auction mount. Thereâs no excuse for add-ons. Make a decent base ui.
Because itâs the worst introduction experience of any PvP game ever. Again, why do you think wow PvP base is the smallest itâs ever been?
Nope. They still probably got some kills in a game or two. In wow youâre not getting a kill for weeks.
If you donât think add-ons are not at least a part of the problem youâre hilarious man absterges video is 100% on point.
Someone who is about 10,000% more known than you
As they should. If someone has zero experience, they will lose to players with experience. Addons or not. Thatâs true in any game.
Not really. PvP in WoW has sucked fundamentally for a very long time. Arenas were where WoW went wrong. Condensing PvP into 5 minute twitch reflex competitions. World PvP died a long time ago. They tried to bring battlegrounds back with RBGs but itâs nowhere near the same. PvP would still suck regardless of addons.
Because PvP has sucked for over 15 years.
I mean maybe if youâre a 5 year old queuing for solo shuffle, sure. Give a brand new player every addon they can think of and theyâll still get crapped on until they actually know what to do. Addons donât take someone from zero to hero with an installation.
Lol the first thing he highlighted was a WA to calculate where the likelihood of a spell fake would happen? People were doing that in their heads before WAs. Thatâs literally an intrinsic skill you need to develop to be successful in arenas, regardless of addons. In fact, I highly doubt any truly skilled player would even bother downloading it. This is something aimed at players that think they should be 2500 when they can barely get past 1800. Even if they install it, guess what, theyâll still struggle to get past 1800.
Addons are not a replacement for skill. Do you need addons to compete in the top 1%? Sure. But again, for the other 99% of players, there are no magical (legal) addons that are suddenly going to start playing their character for them and boost their rating.
