Here is my honest feedback and I hope Blizzard reconsiders their lack of limitations with addons in 2025.
Addons allow players to;
-
Dominate every aspect of PvP by giving me near-perfect reaction times with real-time alerts for every enemy cooldown, debuff, and crowd control ability—things that give me an unfair advantage over players without addons.
-
Track enemy cooldowns in arenas, enabling me to plan my attacks and counters precisely, making it almost impossible to lose a duel if I know when they can or can’t react.
-
Outplay opponents by having a constant stream of alerts for incoming abilities, interrupts, and CCs, so I can always stay one step ahead, even when my opponent has no idea what’s coming.
PvP players have complained for years about this, but I wonder why there aren’t any changes.

I play better with less addons when I PvP. My hyper awareness mode kicks in and I notice everything easier.

I love hearing about the PvP addons that automate your interrupt.
How is that even allowed,
lmao.

Because Blizzard said so , they are the one above all of the wow Universe

The people who are used to pvp with addons get extremely upset when someone suggests pvp might be better (more fun) without addons.
The approach I’d like to see taken is an optional mode with no addons allowed. When all the normal people start queueiing only this mode, the sweatlords will have no one left to dunk on and will need to move to this mode too. At that point we just disable all addons in pvp.

Video talks about the experience for casual/new player to PvP. I would definitely fall under that category. I find for stuff like Blitz it’s not really needed (other than the absolute basics) but is basically mandatory when i tried 3s with friends. The amount of information you get is needed.
I don’t think it’s bad enough to the point where it’s ruining the mode yet for me, but i definitely respect the feeling to not have to rely on them. That’s fair

Better question: why is pvp allowed in my pve mmo?

Addons are part of the game. Everyone can use them. I fail to see the problem.

It’s been like this for years.
It’s also why I haven’t bothered to chase rating past 1800 for my own mogs- ratings don’t matter when people rely heavily on automation to get them.
Kickbots are extremely common, the higher up you go.
It’s funny as a Hunter when you put down a trap on the ground, and a warrior immediately spell reflects it in the same 0.2 seconds of putting it down. Addons allow for instant reaction, to the point where it’s not fair for everyone else.
Yeah, real skill, lmao.
Problem is, they also allow this sort of thing for PvE, so they can’t really come in and stop it now.
It’s simply gone on for far too long, people have gotten gladiator over multiple expansions from using these addons.
They’ve basically existed for most of this game’s life at this point.
Kinda hard to take high ranking seriously as a result. Just play for yourself.

While you may have a point you kinda said the same thing 3 times.

i 100% agree addons should not be allowed in pvp, addons in pve does not affect the other player at all directly, but in pvp they do.

Uneven playing field, and addon/weakaura arms race.

Its almost as if when 1 human attacks another, the one with better information wins.

I got a few of those instant spell reflects and interrupts as well…to a point i though it was very strange how they got right in the nick of time.
I was playing a warlock, and i was facing one warrior in wpvp, (im a warrior main myself, so i know when spell reflect is off CD) every single time i cast death coil i got spell reflect, instantly, it could be as soon the CD was up or later, i could bait with other casts, but dude knew exactly the right time i was doing death coil? seems very strange.
The ice trap one i noticed in blitz a few times, but since i dont play heavily casters other than warlock i dont notice much

I do wonder if addons disabled in PvP would actually improve participation or has that horse already left the barn?
I don’t really care to pvp much to have a vote on it, as if we get to vote on these things.

I doubt removing addons from PvP would help- participation is at an all time low.
All these solo queues we got, are basically an admission that old-school rated PvP (forming groups) is next to dead.
As much as I like it, other MMOs like GW2 have superior PvP.
Harder to cheat/automate.
And then there’s games like Marvel Rivals or League of Legends- they’re just blatantly more fair.
No addons to muck up the experience for others.

Addons are WoW’s cancer.
All addons shall be banned, combat or non-combat, in pvp or pve, no exception.

pvp addons are blessings since the default UI is really bad, we can’t get the information needed, getting the proper addon and weakauras is a part of the improvement the player needs to make when pushing higher ratings
