I’m not going to claim to understand exactly how the ratings work and I don’t think most people really understand it anyway, but can someone please explain to me why my first solo shuffle (and 2’s or 3’s too but this just happened in solo’s) is my MMV already at 2.1k? I was in a lobby with 5 other people who were actually 2k-2.1k and I was at 0. My MMV was literally higher than someone of there’s and they were actually at that level. I got absolutely destroyed except one match where I got lucky and I only got 96 rating for it. Is that supposed to be worth it? I spent 36 minutes in queue, got grouped with people way out of my rating, and I would have to do that 20 more times (if I was trash the entire way) just to get 2k? How has the system not been reworked? Sorry for complaining, I know the community will trash me and just say “git gud” but I love pvp and this made me want to quit after one solo queue.
Mix of previous season’s mmr + they never reset mmr this season and it’s pretty inflated, so 2k is like starting mmr from what I can tell.
Kind of a good thing, with also some negatives.
If it’s too high mmr for you just tank a few lobbies and you’ll be back to normal.
If I recall correctly, MMR carries over from previous seasons.

Maybe the inflation part, but ive never been to 2100 on anyone but dh and ive never even pvpd on the mage i created so its not the previous seasons part. Ggs to new players trying out pvp for the first time lol.
The MMR you earned on your DH sits on your account, not your character.

I used my expac boost on a brand new DK (never played DK before, ever), kitted him out in honor gear using account bound badges.
Qued a solo shuffle and was immediately 2100 MMR as a fresh character. Made zero sense…but I think I went 2-4 so maybe it was almost correct.
Hmm? Are you sure? If I queue shuffle on a brand new char right now it should place me at like 1950ish.
No, I just checked and I lied. My first match was 1925 mmr, then it was my second one at 2100. Still, that felt too high for a green geared fresh character.
Pretty much everyone knows to not queue solo shuffle in greens
You play blitz or super low cr 3s or 2s
I always que in greens on healers and it’s very quick to gear up. Probably not a great idea on dps tho.
