There is some useful data in the survey. Prolly fairly easily got by Blizz with a bit of coding. But here it is, self-selected. Blizz already has all the data on cloaks. This data nicely allows comparison between typical cloak level of all users and forum users. One could then, if you like, characterise forum users: hardcore, casual, typical etc. So you might, say, easily track the views of a representative segment of the player base. And when the forums are in uproar, you could then gauge which segment of the player base that opinion was coming from, if it’s 5% then… ignore? If it’s 50% then be worried out about it. That is how I’d use it anyway.
If I were Blizz I’d do a sample audit to make sure the responses were reliable so there wasn’t a repeat of the pandaren poll.

Eh I just prefer not to have people assume I’m trying to speak for anyone but myself. When it comes to the cloak I’ve literally just entered “whatever” mode if I get it cool if not whatever. I’m locked in till 22nd of april so I’ll plink away here n there but I’m also not expecting to get anywhere near it.
I know they don’t want to but another micro patch that let dailies offer memetos or even removed the need for full cloak research would help me.

Maybe it is already but I would imagine if the cloak mechanic is in LFR it will be… interesting.
That’s when the general playerbase will flood the the forums to complain about this cloak quest they HAVE to do for LFR. They only have an hour a night to play and just wanted to enjoy some LFR with their guild OK. This is asking WAY too much.
Yer, I think there might be something to that. I came across a step by step guide to getting the cloak y’day which would indicate to me that people are not easily engaging with the content right from the start.
As a casual, I can very happily tell Blizz why not. Initial questing for a returnee to max the first essence is mildly laborious in trekking all over the world then doing fairly mundane scenarios - but - it was a story, and I was interested so I followed it (no, completely not interested in doing it all again for every single one of my many alts). Unfortunately, the cloak quest chain all melds into one with this, seems like more of the same. But again, ok, I want to see how the story goes, so I’ll do it. Cool. Not so bad. Bit laborious along the way, but I’ve finished it all now, got the cloak, one max essence. Let’s see what this unlocks. /enters SW horrific vision Right. Dungeon level mobs in time limited scenario. Ok, I’m a hunter, I can use invis pots and other stuff to avoid mobs, but this isn’t fun for me. (I only went in once, got inside the Cathedral and that was it) I’m looking for a relaxed fun time with some other ppl, I have no easy way of getting it. No dungeon finder. Ppl looking for others via Custom groups pretty exclusive. Would like to improve my cloak, but not attempting that again.
I’m going to guess there is a similar disjunction in the participation rate between normal and heroic warfronts, because there is no easy way to grp for the heroic version for the casual player.
It’s so easy to get vessels that there’s no good excuse not to have your cloak at max every week.
