Well, first of all, you didn’t mention anything about staggering world release times, you were recommending changing the time to better fit folks in EST so it didn’t land right when folks in EST were getting off work. All EST…
Second, staggering world release times wouldn’t work. How do you open the servers for someone in Asia that’s playing on an EST realm? oO
And again lol, you’re now focusing on EST. You don’t get to see the population of EU and China servers- what are their populations like, and what would changing the WORLD WIDE LAUNCH TIME specifically to better fit EST do to them?

has nothing to do with the masses being on the east coast bro, has to do with them being on the west coast- so they can have the staff there on the clock to deal with issues as they happen. It will be 3pm for them if I am not mistaken, they have the morning and afternoon to prep, then come 3, it’s showtime! And I’m sure they are expecting a long night! Then Tuesday if they need to run server maintenance, it falls in line with their usual schedule

Well, if you refer to server as an EST U.S. server it should open at an ideal time for that zone, not Asia, in my opinion.

Dude, how are you not getting this. All servers around the globe open at the same time, there is NO OTHER WAY TO DO IT.
EST timezones and servers do not carry the weight of the most players in the world, not by a LONG SHOT. Blizzard is opening up the servers at the best time for the largest amount of players throughout the world.
I know it’s hard to grasp, as you have some serious entitlement going on, but try to understand.

Well, if they opened them in the morning, 9 PDT, they’d also have all day and be on the clock to deal with issues. I don’t see your point.

I don’t see why all servers have to launch at the same time globally. Different time zones could have staggered launching. Why do they all need to be done at the same time?
BECAUSE NOT EVERYONE PLAYING ON THAT SERVER IS EST!
Why is this so hard for you to grasp?
Regardless the server will be full and a queue will be formed in 15 seconds or less.

Which brings my back to the point earlier about scheduling the launch based on the actual server time and not whatever else you all are talking about. If someone wants to play on a US EST server from China or wherever they should deal with the EST time zone not some other thing, whatever that may be.
EDT. Standard Time doesn’t start until November… (and hopefully the rest of the country will pass bills to get rid of Standard Time permanently soon!)
Because it’s 3:00pm in Irvine, CA.
That gives a good chunk of the Blizzard team working on Classic who are going to be the main crew at launch, a chance to sleep in, then start their shift at 3:00pm, work an 8-hour shift (w/an hour lunch), and clock out at midnight without any shift-differential, or second-day penalty. There will likely be another shift coming on at midnight, who will get a night/post-midnight differential, but it will be a smaller group, because the first shift, along with the salaried employees, will hopefully have taken care of most of the issues by then.
At least that’s how they handled that kind of thing when I worked in the industry.
I don’t mean this to be snarky, I’m honestly curious, but if they started at 9;00am PDT, would that be better for you personally? If not, what time would be best? I’m sure it’s different for everyone.
EDIT: School has already started here in CA.

You do realise there’s probably more people in your timezone that want a 6pm release than don’t? It’s a busy time because by definition it’s the most popular.
you are aware there are only EST and PST servers right?
No CST or MST servers in the US
therefore, CST and MST players have to pick either an EST or PST server, and its is IRRELEVANT which time zone they said the server is.
Giving him too much credit as a good player.
It’s gonna be 6:15 PM EST before he hits level 2.
I’m retired, so any time is good for me. I was just trying to help the overall community. It doesn’t really matter to me. I sleep whenever I want, and have no set schedule. It doesn’t do anyone any good if most people are shut out of the server, though. If my idea doesn’t work, so be it, but I still think it was a good one.
You are basically alienating people who are on your server and not in your timezone.
PROTIP
There are not servers for every timezone which still would not give your argument merit, but just saying.
Their release time is best for their company, as simple as that, so they can handle any problems as they roll in. bam, done.

But, you also can’t please all of the people all of the time. Someone has to lose. That’s life. You guys seem like you’d rather have no one get on than some, because, if not, everyone wouldn’t be equal.
Just like you seem to want your timezone to benefit the most even though its only one of the many timezones that will be playing on that server.
Well, ok, but that being said, their company sure seems to be screwing up often in recent times.
