Just because you didn’t ask for them doesn’t mean some people see them and wouldn’t like them. There’s a narrative in play. It’s okay that we get something we didn’t ask for.
We’re not entitled to everything we ask for. We’re not entitled to things we ask for decades for. That’s not how this works. It’s not how life works in general.
I want a pre-order bonus for 9.2.5 that gives us 4 allied races similar to how BFA did with the pre-order.
We got High Mountain Tauren, Nightborne, Void Elves, and Lightforged Draenei all well before BFA launched. I think a similar plug would be good to have for Dragonflight. Clearly you’re not going to be able to have Dracthyr running around until we have access to the Dragon Isles so other races make more sense.
Adding Sethrak, Jinyu/Ankoan, Tuskarr, and Tortollans would be great additions. The Sethrak and Jinyu/Ankoan would make great additions to the horde and alliance to help bolster their ranks as both have large populations to pull from. Then with Tuskarr and Tortollans we are getting two races both heavily vested in a slower way of life and interested in knowledge. Both could be interested in finding out more about the Dragon Isles, Tortollans for general lore and knowledge, and Tuskarr from oral history passed down through their tribes that they originally came from the Isles.
Hopefully we get other races and not just Dracthyr on the horizon. Putting all your eggs in one basket for a single new race and one class seems like a bad bet for success. At least with the extra races you hedge it a bit. Not to mention it gives the new non-tank class other new races to level with through dungeons since other players who want to level a new race and not a dracthyr will have new options.
You have got to be joking. Playable dragons have been requested for 18 years. And if you’re about to say WoW hasn’t been out that long, it’s because I’m including the beta.
Devs don’t add new content, races, etc based on player demand. They make changes for their own reasons. They have a long-term plan for the future. I think the coming of Microsoft make change that a bit.
The Mechagnomes we got aren’t exactly what people asked for, but MANY people wanted mechagnomes from day one. Sure, they were thinking more of the totally mechanical villanous ones, but it’s not true that nobody asked for them. If they could wear pants, I’d love the ones we have. I can’t get over not being able to wear pants. Sigh. They’re magnificent otherwise.
As has been pointed out by many here, TONS of WoW players have wanted a playable dragon race from before the beginning. Onyxia hanging out in human form and the early lore stories and novels that included dragons as heroes and plotting villains appealed to a huge range of the player base, and they have been a consistent request.
So…I mean nobody asked for Void Elves, and I maintain that whoever came up with that did it deliberately as a “slap in the face” to the HE crowd. Don’t hit me; I like the Void Elves, didn’t hate the storyline they came up with for them, and it gave the Alliance a Thalassian elf model. Still. Nobody asked for Void Elves.
But lots of people asked for dragons.
I’m truly sorry that the High Elf thing was never done. I’m truly sorry that people have been waiting more than a decade for features and races and locations and storylines that have not come.
But lots of people wanted dragons as a playable race for a solid 16 years.
Agreed, it also baffles me. I’ve come to realize they don’t care what the players want and the devs just add their own pet projects instead.
The exception is when it’s Horde players requesting races, then they get highly demanded ones like Zandalari, Vulpera, Maghar, Nightborne, straight backs, etc.
Like how they gave away a Horde race in a (vain) attempt to silence the squeaky wheels and their weird elf fixation? Then took even more of that race’s uniqueness away from the Horde because even that wasn’t enough for them?
Caz blizz knows even if they add the races we want they will somehow f*** it up and people will rage. They also dont add them as a “keep playing and paying. We may add them later”.
It’s like the moves ( and tv series. Seeing that alot now) that get made years after the originals ended (star wars, matrix, ect). They never live upto the God tier hype the fans create
