Alright classic andys (what’s left anyways) whose prepared for progression classic to be shut down after they announce it at Blizzcon in September? Whose ready to see 7 years of your life get deleted with one blue post from a community manager? Mists of Pandaria classic was the most disgusting treatment of any iterationof world of warcraft, I have ever seen. Dare I say, that this was treated worse then Warlords of Draenor? Ever since the Mega Server merger, I lost complete interest but read post after post after post about ToT being bugged and not fixed. Blizzard devs completely abandoning this game but still getting those sweet sweet store mounts in the game. Remember when they were talking MoP classic up during multiple interviews that they heard our feedback loud and clear during Cataclysm classic and they were going to have more engagement and support for MoP classic? That was a lie. You all got corporate shelled out by Retail player housing and TBC anniversary. Buts its okay, in a few long months away from now, your characters will be sitting at the login screen. Not playing WoD Classic (even if they did bring that expansion out, would you trust Blizzard to release the finished product and maintain it with bug fixes and a player base?), you won’t be transferring your characters to retail (As Blizzard states before with doing connected realms instead of virtual realms “It’s too expensive), but here are your ACTUAL options.
Switch to Retail where the story writing is terrible but the gameplay feels good.
TBC anniversary where you can do everything you did in 2021 AGAIN, only this time accelerated.
Wait for Wrath Anniversary announcement at Blizzcon, the best expansion they ever made but accelerated.
Buy more store mounts and MAYBE play WoD classic with 10k other players.
This expansion could have been the best version of Classic but ironically it was the worst.
I mean. It was a fun 7 years with plenty of memories? Like I agree their treatment of MoP Classic was pathetic, but the people that always need to know what comes next to enjoy something are just weirdoes
I keep seeing this sentiment too. I won’t play MoP because I don’t know if WoD is coming. I won’t play TBC because I don’t know if we get TBC Era or Wrath. What? Play, because you enjoy playing the game and it’s fun.
We knew about MoP classic before going into Dragon Soul. SoO comes out in a few weeks and we have no heard ANYTHING about the future after. I almost thought the devs forgot about MoP classic for a couple months now seeing as they couldn’t fix ToT or respond to any outcry during server mergers.
Missing a few options: Going back to private servers (no, a few of them shutting down right now means nothing in the grand scheme of things), and play other games.
The servers may shut down. The servers may get frozen at the end of Pandaria the way Classic Era is frozen at the end of vanilla. We may advance to Draenor. The horse may learn to sing. The horse may get butchered for dinner. After briefly experiencing the reins of terror.
All that I am certain of is that Blizzard’s communication has been beyond awful over the recent months/years.
I take screenshots of every cool or interesting moment, I have a scrapbook of memories from the game going back years. Even if it gets era’d, I can say I got to play through the expansions, can look up old screenshots and say it was time well spent.
I just was hoping for some announcement to see if it is worth levelling a 3rd character, but since they haven’t announced WOD, I guess I’ll just stick with two.
I’ve got plenty negative to say about the state of the game, especially what’s happened to my favorite expansion, but in regards to “wasting 7 years”: why do you think it was a waste? Everything comes to an end. Is it a waste to have a pet because it will eventually die?
Retail will, eventually, end too, was World of Warcraft itself a waste?
The waste for me would be time spent collecting and immersing in the RPG side of the game on a character that is shortly going to be left to rot. So I’m not doing any of that stuff even though I enjoy it. I’ll still level enough pets to get through the Timeless Isle tournament comfortably though.
Similarly, in other circumstances I would probably actually pay real-life money for one recolor of that hilarious squirrel mount. But to only use it for a couple of months? Nah. It’s really annoying they’re even still selling shop items for Classic Progression when they know, but won’t actually admit, that they’re going to pull the plug before the year is out. Not surprising, of course, but a jerk move nevertheless.
But although the characters are throwaways at this point, I’ll be playing MoP until the bitter end, just to play my monks while I can. I have no interest in retail at all, so that’s a non-starter for me, which means this is my last chance to play the class. I’ve been playing healers in WoW since 2007, and for me original Mistweaver was peak fun healing. So from that perspective the time is not wasted at all. The gameplay is fun every time I play, and that’s what I’m paying for.
I’ll move on to Wrath or Classic+ and I’m sure I’ll have a blast in either. But I play WoW as much for the RPG half as the MMO half, so I’m irked by the contstant uncertainty around Classic. I’d like to find a permanent home for a character I can invest in.
its mostly 2019 anni players who aren’t ready to move on from their chars they’ve invested nearly 7 years of time into
everyone else either a) went to anni b) went to retail c) quit/and or private servers
same experience in my friends list as well, nobody plays MoP, and all my diehard classic buddies who despise retail dropped in either cata/mop and went to anni which they are still playing a ton of today.
Where is this posted, or a video of them saying this? I keep hearing people say this, but I have never seen a post or a video of them saying. Then in-game, people say it’s trolls saying it to cause drama lol
more often then not they release more stuff at blizzcon then they do anywhere else meaning any new classic xpac’s or anything like that. very low chance they said anything during the state of azeroth stream they did since it wasn’t a very long talk bout stuff, was more of a way for them to add the roadmap’s.
The suspicion that they will spill the beans at Blizzcon and keep us in the dark shoveling poop on top of us until then is supported by past history and current silence. They have never actually said this is what they are doing. But they do not really have to, do they?
