Who's to say you can't add new items into Classic?

I mean lets be real here, who’s to say Blizzard can’t add new items into Classic?

Why not? Adding cool new items with different effects would be dope and add a little spice to an already popular title. It doesn’t have to be an expansion to create new things or add new things into the game.

Classic is a great game and I think it would be even cooler with more items and things to do.

Give each class a new quest for a new item, or add new world drops in to farm for. Who cares, just do it. Spice things up.

Vanilla is great but Vanilla + would be even cooler.

The thing is, there would have to be a legitimate need for a new item aside from “it would be cool” before they add one. To my knowledge that has not happened once in classic. The closest would be changing certain quest items from common the epic so they can be masterlooted properly.

Not going to happen per Blizzard.

Classic was meant to be as close of a recreation of Vanilla as possible.

At that point, Blizz would then need to dedicate resources to developing brand new content. As of now, Blizz is giving us Classic along with retail for one price- if they would give us classic + or adding new content to classic, I wouldn’t be surprised if Blizz began charging us for classic alone. I’m sure many would be okay with that, but it is something to consider.

Modern Blizzard is trash I wouldn’t even trust them to change a light bulb properly.

The fact that they completely screwed a perfectly good game like WC3 up for no reason and then completely disbanded the development team and abandoned the game altogether in a terrible state is proof enough of how incompetent and out of touch they are with their own intellectual property.

You can. they should.

Imagine phase 7 where a number of new weapons/armors come out that help “meme” specs, like feral druids, boomkin, ret paladins, and enhancement perform more competitively. The items would drop in various instances, even some raids.

How on earth are we still getting Vanilla + threads?

Spoiler: IT ISN’T HAPPENING.

I don’t think it’s items or itemization that can help these classes—I think that the spec/talents just aren’t that strong and also they have mana issues.

You would have to to do more than just give them better items I would imagine.

Or…they could take a page from a certain server to help with our Ascension to Classic+.

Seriously, Classless play is pretty awesome. Especially since it would mean Paladins could easily become main tanks and Warriors could become masterful AoE tanks. And yes, before you say anything they do balance abilities; ex. Ice Block cannot be used immediately after another similar ability (ie Divine Shield). And there is a limit to how many talents and abilities you can pick up.

We the players.

Because this is meant to be a recreation, not a new MMO.

Do you really think 9 more items is going to make a significant difference in the game?

Doubles Advocate: If their introduction wont produce a significant difference in the game then your argument for them ushering in a new MMO is moot.

I never made the argument that adding 9 items would usher in a new MMO. You’re conflating two separate arguments.

The point of Classic is to faithfully recreate the original World of Warcraft. ANY change goes against that purpose, no matter how significant. Classic is not meant to be a new MMO where we can change things as we wish; it is meant to be World of Warcraft as it was.

I was also pointing out how an item for each class hardly seems to meet the OP’s expectations. Vanilla+ is 9 more items, one for each class? Really?

then why did tou say “new MMO” if that’s not exactly what you meant?

Classic plus sounds really good in theory but given what we know about blizzard nowadays, its a big risk to allow them to add/change stuff in the spirit of vanilla wow. I would love to have a new dungeon or new niche items like nature reflectors or even a loot table added to world leaders but it would cause so many headaches and balance issues to let actiblizz mess with a good thing.

You’re not reading what I’m saying, are you?

WoW Classic is NOT a new MMO; it is a recreation of WoW as it used to be, therefore we should not add new items. I am not saying that adding new items makes it a new MMO.

Me: A, not B, therefore C.
You: Not C, therefore B.

Do you realize how that is a logical fallacy?

do define your variables please. Also are you now are you claiming mutual exclusivity relationships exist between them?

This is very simple stuff, so I’m not sure where you’re failing to understand.

Making changes to WoW Classic doesn’t make it a new MMO. I’m saying BECAUSE it’s not a new MMO, we shouldn’t make changes to it.

The two that are mutually exclusive are changes and faithful recreation. It, by definition, cannot be a faithful recreation if you are changing it.

You are wrongfully concluding that changes makes it a new MMO, which isn’t what I said at all.

Define add new items, i wouldn’t mind seeing more fluff items added like toys and pets and mounts.
