Didn’t Maiev have a legion of Wardens with her when Illidan was captured? How is this any different?
Except that we see his hp bar. He has Zack-All for HP by the time that Maiev shows up. We did the work. She takes the credit because she’s singularly obsessed and “no one can handle Illidan but her.”
He let us wound him to flex on us, knowing he could stop us in our tracks at any time- he was playing with his food basically.
When Maiev showed up it was someone he couldn’t stop.
The book certainly doesn’t suggest this is true.
Maiev dabs on everyone. Biggest chad in the Warcraft universe. Fact.

No. She had about a hundred Watchers, tops. Actual numbers aren’t given. But there’s a few dozen left by the time we see them on Hellfire Peninsula. And she was the only Warden on the mission.

Illidan’s own POV chapter trumps your take on game mechanics. He straight up felt he was winning, easily crushing the heroes before him. It was to the point where he’s like “Well damn, I’m actually gonna survive this day. Huzzah!” Then Maiev showed up, and his hopes instantly sank. At that point on she does most of the fighting. This is as per the books. Even in the flashback scenario in Legion from Xe’ra’s visions, we see that he was absolutely dominating the raid. Then when Maiev shows up your (his) hp bar drops and you (he) dies.
You’re weighing the mechanics of a player-focused raid against the lore. This is a lore forum. When the two conflict, lore trumps mechanics.

They freed N’zoth which was their only goal and both Jaina and Theron thinks is a big deal and they need to join forces at once. So far it seems there is a large plan that even Azshara was willing to get her beat out by the players in orden to get their goals and no dude, without Ashvane, Sylvanas wouldn’t had never made a deal with Azshara and the alliance would had finished the war by now if the nazjatar fiasko didn’t happen.
