Nope, it’s sharded and instanced. It’s an MMO in the same way Destiny, Destiny 2 or Diablo 4 are.

I don’t know ya know we’ve been asking this question for 20 years and I don’t think anyone knows. It’s very likely though that the real game is actually about fishing and pet battles and everything else is just filler at this point. Back to you Chuck!
For what I do in the game, it does give me plenty of hours of entertainment. Very well worth the monthly sub for me.
The game has a bit of everything you mentioned, everyone can do WHAT THEY WANT and be fine with it, dont understand your point at all.
As personal opinion as it gets, specially from people like yourself who want the game to be like it was 15 years ago, just not possible.
If an MMO isn’t sharded or instanced, it’s likely cause there aren’t enough players to need it.

I dunno, I played TWW for 5 weeks from early access to launch and the next couple of weeks after. I expected the zones to be filled with people but I rarely saw anyone outside of the the main hub. Maybe a handful of players in each zone as I leveled. Certainly not enough to justify sharding.

Ok, so I ask. What is Massive or Multiplayer about that? Is COD Black Ops 6 an MMO? They have hundreds of thousands of players online at once but all sharded into their own matches and lobbies.
My last 2 alts are Earthen. I agree though, people don’t want to roll the “ugly races”.
I literally had 2 guildies tell me directly that my bald Earthen Disc Priest is ugly. But I was going for shock and awe anyway, so I can only respond with “thank you”.

They made it for me. I’m enjoying the game and I haven’t played since Legion.
Because the game shares many design characteristics with casinos. Lots of sunk-cost fallacy, “my luck will be better next time” and creeping personal investment that can make the unaware fall into the trap of being in too deep to back out.
The other design characteristic is the gaming equivalent of “comfort food”.
You’d be surprised how far WoW players find themselves down that road, which makes the inevitable degredation of the relationship with the game a VERY messy and dramatic process.

It’s made for whomever wants to play it. We aren’t each other’s babysitter. If the games not for you anymore or anyone else ok, move on.
Most raiding guilds have an attendance requirement, break for restroom/food, etc. once or twice a session, and have a set time you’re supposed to be online/a set time to call it a night, multiple nights a week.

Where did I say the didn’t need it? Also what lie? Can you make crafted myth tier gear? Yes you can. Can you trade lower level crests into higher tier crests? Also yes. So can someone doing only world quests and events get myth level gear? Yes they can. So where is the lie?
