Who here thinks Tinkers are coming?

The only acceptable aesthetic I would like for a tech class would specifically be magitech. So basically like an artificer for example. Deciding to make a tech class in a fantasy game and sticking to plain old rockets and mechs is a beyond boring idea. So basically not a tinker.

Any tech class would be an engineer if you wanted to be pedantic about it. Whether it’s Tinker or Artificer or Machinist or whatever else, you could reduce any of them down to being engineers.

I genuinely want it to stay as a title only.

Play a mechagnome hunter. Tame one of the mechanical beasts that are around Azeroth. Learn the engineering profession. Congratulations you meet all the fantasy qualifications of a tinker! The class is already in the game!

So no need to request another one.

That’s great, gnomes aren’t the only race in the game with technology though.

Goblin hunter with goblin engineering here, and even I want it to stay as a title only.

Ok? Great, you have your cake, what’s wrong with others having theirs too?

But can you though? Sport a Tinker title? No, no you can’t. You can be an engineer, you can be a hunter engineer, heck you can even be a goblin shaman engineer, but none of this makes you a Tinker.

Tinker, at this time, is a defined non player class. There’s a handful of NPC which you can clearly see are more than a mere engineer. But we as players cannot be Tinkers, nor can lay any claim to being a tech class.

Anyway munches on his popped corn keep it coming guys, this is great stuff.

You think this is great stuff? That’s fascinating.

I am perfectly content with Blizzard policy of tinker being a title only, thanks, and have a nice day

It is, watching people profess and defend that a tech class as no place in WoW class roster is fascinating.

that’s a solid point that the tinker-haters don’t understand. tinker stuff is everywhere, so obviously we need a playable tinker class. same thing with cooking. there is food everywhere and people cooking everywhere, so clearly a chef class is also needed.

They’re going to add tinkers in undermine and they’ll start at level 80 (1 per account until midnight) and they’ll be the only class that can fly in undermine with their mech.

I have no idea where people are latching onto the idea we’re getting a new class MID-EXPANSION lol

Like, that’s never, ever happened before.

Either you get it at the start/pre-patch, or not at all.

I love the idea, but right now, it’s just not happening.

While very unlikey that we will see a new class mid expansion. I cant help but wonder if some of Brans abilities in Delves are testing for Tinkers. Some of them fit very well, and they could be testing the tank abilities in 11.1

There is space stuff everywhere, and rocket ships so clearly an astronaut is needed, we must help Raynor during “Midnight,” with the Zerg & Protoss because they are in league with the Titans, so we must deal with that in addition to Xala’tath.

Astronaut is clearly next. :exploding_head: :joy: :skull_and_crossbones:

I agree it’s highly unlikely that a new class would launch mid expansion. That would require a lot of work from a testing perspective even with a fully fledged out class.

However, blizzard has been breaking a lot of molds recently and questioning a lot of practices that were established for multiple expansions over the last decade and beyond.

If it does end up happening, I can see something like during the 11.1 progression, the story will leave breadcrumbs that lead up to a Tinker class where the very next patch will introduce the Tinker class officially into the players hands. But until then, in order to get familiar with everything the Tinker class brings to the table, you would experience various aspects during the Undermine content.

That’s how I would do it anyway, I wouldn’t bring the class right into the game with prior story build up and teasing through gameplay found already in order to acclimate the players to the new feature so feedback can begin on the PTR based on actual relevant experience from Undermine content.

So who knows if it will happen, I won’t be disappointed if it doesn’t but will happily be surprised if it does.

I find it really interesting that the group against Tinkerer as a class is so very against it as a class. Its not just a “I’m against this thing” it feels like its rabidly against it. Like zero to a hundred.

Only other place I’ve personally seen that level of just Zoom to hate is with High Elves threads… I take that back I see it with Necromancer class threads too.

Just odd I think.

While I’m doubtful that they’d actually release a class like that with next to no leadup halfway through an expansion I agree with this.

Also should be noted that Blizzard told us not to see TWW, Midnight and TLT as three separate expansions but one continuous expansion leading through those three big points.

So who knows what Blizzard might pull along the lines of “breaking molds”.

I will have a good, long laugh if there is a new class and it is not Tinkers

Mmm any ideas on what it might be instead then, if there were to be a new class and its not Tinkers?

Only makes sense for Gnomes, Mechas, Goblins, and Vulpera. You would have to use a mech suit of some sort, and a Tauren Tinker A) Makes no sense, and B) Would be too big to fit through most doors. They are also the four best inventor races and have tinkers built into the lore (minus vulpera).

If they really want to go hard into the Void, they can really upset Priests once again by instead of actually addressing Shadow and Priest as a class concerns, they can just do what Demon Hunters did which is to provide a new Melee based Void class.
