Who Handles Wowhead? 2 Month-Old Problem Needs Fixing!

Dear Customer Support Person

I need your help, and if you cannot help me, I bet you know someone who can.

Here is my problem: I can’t use the tools provided by Wowhead to tell me which quests I have completed and which are still outstanding. I tried to get them to work on it, but all they come back with is “We don’t know [how to fix this]”.

Okay, you don’t know. So find someone who does know, please.

Here in a nutshell is what is wrong: On Wowhead under Tools, there are three items one can access by listing one’s character name and server. As quick as a flash, Quest Completion Tracker, Character Planner and Profiler should give one all the information one needs, right? Wrong. For me, anyway.

After using the services for years, all of a sudden when I give them my details I get the following message: " We could not load Jonãs on US-Alexstrasza from Blizzard Battle.net".

This happens with all of my characters, but it does not happen when someone else looks up my character. They can pull up any info they want on my character. Only I can’t. Why not?

They “do not know” - and that is a quote. Because I’m a paying customer to Wowhead ($5.00 everytime I pay them), I should get more than we don’t know. I should at least get a “…but we’ll find out, Sir.” (“Sir” being optional).

So, dear customer service person who manages this section, can you please help me? Thank you very much indeed! It would be nice to know if there are other folks experiencing this problem.

WoWhead is a 3rd party platform and not affiliated with Blizzard, if you need support you need to be likely at WoWhead.

That said, the portion about others being able to load up your toon appears to be correct as I managed to load up https://www.wowhead.com/quest-completion-tracker#us-alexstrasza-jonãs to check quests (did not attempt profiler etc)

It could be related to a WoWhead setting if you’re logged in at WoWhead or perhaps a cookie problem. Try clearing your cookies 'n cache and relogging to their site to see if this fixes that.

As a by-the-by, this is not something they offer for Premium. Certainly not for $9/yr.

Wanting more than what they tell you you’re paying for upfront does not entitle you to more than that.

It seems to be affecting some other folks as well. You may want to poke in a new thread or speak up on this one that was ironically at the top of the list when I just went to look on the forums.

And to add - paying for something does not give you any special benefits beyond what is outlined as part of your sub. Going ad-free and some other convenience benefits are what is covered by the price of your subscription. It does not entitle you to bang your fist and demand special treatment.

Though I don’t know if you’ve only submitted your ticket through WoWhead’s site, you may also want to reach out to their parent site.

Sure. I understand that. At $5.00, it isn’t a huge expense. But it is a matter of principle, is it not? If one sells a product which isn’t working correctly, it’s just good business to try to find out why.

Be that as it may, my intent was to reach out and ask some questions, and this I have done.

Thanks

Certainly is… if that’s what they were selling.

Your gripe is with a free aspect of the website available to everyone, however.

It is against the ToS to sell advice for real money.

That…isn’t even a part of what this is about?

The only money being exchanged is for a website - one that Blizzard actively suggests people use, mind you - so that one can use the site without ads and with some cosmetic features. They’re not selling any advice. All of that, their guides, their tools and the massive databases are all there for people to use for free. You don’t even need to register for an account to use most of them.

I so believe the paid is to get rid of adds. So I believe it is legal as far as bliz is concerned.

I been using wowhead for free a long time, I have an adblocker too. From what I understand, Blizzard is pretty hands off when it comes to outside sites.

Right, but your gripe is with WoWHead and NOT with Blizzard. Blizzard can do nothing to help you are get in touch with anyone that can.

Yup, that’s what I said. They’re not charging for the information they provide - only for the ads to be removed and for some cosmetic/quality of life things. So the person trying to imply that what WoWhead is offering is illegal/against the ToS is incorrect with their assumption.

Same. Never had any issues at all.

I pay them. The support has been pretty good to me, I utilise Wowhead all the time, and I don’t need to see their ads.

I spend more on coffee in a single week. :o

it’s already been fairly well documented that the armory has been having issues for the last few weeks.

it’s clearly a blizzard issue.

wowhead don’t control the armory.

…and the armory isn’t part of what we pay for with game time.

On my old laptop, there would be so many ads that it would slow down everything else. I wouldn’t pay them out of principle. Now that I have a better laptop, the ads aren’t so bad, so now I’m willing to pay them.

Don’t ask me to explain. It makes sense to me. :stuck_out_tongue:

Technically, the Armory has always been, and continues to be, in a Beta testing state. It is not something that can be relied on, and as such, any websites/addons/etc that use the Armory are still unsupported.

the armory stopped being in beta about 10 years ago.

Not according to the SFAs.

i wish i could dig further back than that :joy:

i’m trying to remember when the beta tag was removed.
i’m pretty sure it was around the time were able to choose our armory pose.

i mean… technically, everything is beta :stuck_out_tongue: (looks at battlenet app)

As far as I remember it wasn’t even then. In fact the ability to choose your armory pose broke the armory again. Pretty sure it is never meant to leave “beta” status. There is also the fact that support wise, it falls low on the priority scale.
