Once the crutches have been removed, the rest of us are going to be at a tremendous advantage.
Players who need addons to play are no different than cheaters. They’ve always used them not to allow them to play despite honest disability, but rather, to give them an edge over everyone else.
Now they are about to lose it, and they don’t have the skill to compensate. I’m giddy with excitement.

To be fair most people like me simply use addons to help blizzards poorly done interface, but there are lots of addons that need to go for sure.

I’m looking forward to it.

Good players will prevail.

Sounds like someone has been making excuses on why they lose
“I only lost cause they had add-ons”
I think you’re in for a rude awakening when you find out it wasn’t add-ons that made them good

As long as they update the battleground UI to actually show timers and objective health and have a proper built in way for showing procs/self buffs and their timers, I think this will overall probably not change all that much for most people.

yeah cause all the real good players have left
i’m extremely salty about this change

meeee I really don’t use anything except damage meters and weakaura, and only to track personal cds/buffs/whatevs, so all the new stuff can only help me
You just can’t help but troll huh little bobby boy. Nobody said they only lose cause of addons or anything of the sort, but you’re just a little troll trying to start things. Stick to reddit.

it makes for more exciting tournaments. seeing teams not entirely sure if a cd is up so they’re waiting for their own instead of finishing the game. rewards players who are able to track, similarly to overwatch being able to track enemy ults.
inversely it will actually make some players better, as many seem to press buttons based on a giant horn going off rather than what is actually happening ingame. watched an sp hit disperse today because their healer deathed a trap but all they saw on the WA to hit disperse was “HEALER IN CC” in giant flashing text for 1s.
most importantly it will hopefully remove visual clutter for spectators. clicking on some of these old-head streams and just seeing UI more than the actual game is disgusting.
there is a 0% chance that these are REQUIRED to do any level of content in this game. praying we move as far away from ui-craft as possible.

I main healers, should be awesome to not have a target on my head.

I still remember years ago the add-on healersmustdie came out. And during a Q&A session, someone asked a dev if they were going to ban it, and he said “all that add-on does is quickly automate a feature already in the game” … except you can’t mark enemy players in PvP with the game UI…

Well you can see who’s a healer by mouse over enemy team list, the new ui says the players talent spec anyway, a bit slower to find though.

Addons need to be gone for the same reason F1 cars don’t have ABS, TCS, or stability management.
It raises the skill ceiling and otherwise levels the playing field.

except F1 basically invented ABS, TCS, and stability management. they even have more stuff like adjustable brake bias and a rechargeable boost button. what they don’t have is adaptive suspension, CVT drivetrains, and ground effect aero.
“i could beat all the pro gamers if i played just as much as them”

I know I won’t play heals without mouse-over frame addons

Well he’s not generally wrong lol. The OP said the foolish “give them an edge over everyone else” when anyone can use anything. They are also including a lot of those elements into the base UI. (Though, I suspect it will be horribly done and not as clean.)
I guess if anyone enables whatever ends up being included will continue to be “cheaters” right
?

Are all ad ons being broken? I dont have issues with stuff like combo point ad ons or incoming call out ad ons.

None of these have existed in F1 for two decades or better.
It’s kinda like they banned addons to raise the skill ceiling and level the playing field. Adderall addicts rejoice, at least they can’t prevent your version of cheating.
I’m kind of curious how it’s gonna feel. I feel like it’s not going to be pretty, because alpha and beta testers are generally better players, so they’ll cope better, and when it’s going to hit general servers, it’ll be a shock. Like, Hekili addon isn’t so popular for nothing, easy rotations or not. Either way it’s not going to be 1,2,3 buttons, some of the procs and weird interaction and stuff will slip.
But overally I think it might be healthy for the game. Just remove all the bloat and let the game breathe.
