Prot Pal design is soo bad they aren’t even a Tank anymore. Sad times. I hate healing which is why I play a Tank. At no point should a Tank be healing other players. What’s weird is if you play Prot Pal other players now expect you to heal them lol… Get outta of here that holy power is for damage not healing you. Go find a healer.
Shame they ruined Prot Pal at least there are other true Tanks to play.
Eh. I’d say it’s for protection. Shielding others with your faith in the light and all that. Damage in the sense that it attracts the harm to yourself. Maybe enough to end the threat.
I’m ok with prot paladins being effective offhealers, or at least assisting. I really liked Seal of Light / Judgement of Light back in the old days. But i’m one of the masochists that actually prefers vanilla/tbc paladin over wotlk lol.
I think the idea that they’re able to replace healers is kind of silly though. Like paladin does have a healing specialization. Why would prot also fill that role. The only class with two healers is priest. until now.
Prot Pal was designed well in WotLK. They did damage as intended and have fallen far off from their design of being a damage dealing block tank. The new Talent trees should model Prot Pal after Wrath.
Nah they stacked spell power at one point. They weren’t healers though. Then they nerfed the effectiveness of spell power and shifted them to more attack power based.
Nope they were balanced. Some of the better Tanks design was in WotLK. Tanks were Tanky with huge burst. How it should be.
no no i definitely remember like early s5 or s6 prot paladins cross rolling as healers they’d take the shield for slience, big aoe sac, and some other stuff for defensive talents and then dip into holy for the rest & hps throughput. it was really frustrating to fight because of the utility shield silence brought.
Yeah i played UHDK and prot/holy pally in 2s in original wotlk and it was OP. I remember back then never feeling like i had to peel for that healer like i did with other healers
