I asked for it and I would do it again.
I gotta think it’s more accurate than whatever survey blizzard used because the video has 126k views, but I’m interested in seeing blizz’s survey too. If you could post that info I’d be interested in seeing the details of it because all I’ve seen is people just talk about it.
In my opinion, the Survey you guys are talking about should technically be irrelevant if you think about it. At the time the survey was put out, we had zero information on what is to come in TBC. I am almost certain that the percentage for the 58 boost would be way lower if it was put out after Blizzcon.
The option for the 58 boost at the time the survey was leaked, we didn’t know Blood elves and Draeneis were planned to release for pre-patch and weren’t able to be a part of the boost. So anyone who had plans to main one of the two race at the time of the survey would much rather get a boosted character to be able to stay ahead with everyone else. But now we know a boost won’t be possible towards a blood elf or draenei and now they are forced to level one in pre-patch. so I’m sure majority of blood elf and draenei mains would have had a to choose a different option to suit their situation if this was all informed to them from the beginning.
Yes, but if Blizzard had done that they could not have slipped in this “bait and switch” tactic they have employed. I still think the best solution would be to split the servers to give the Retail folks their boosted servers and let those of us who want to play Classic keep ours without the boosts, but that would cost money and I don’t actually see it happening unfortunately.
To quote the great David Bowie in the movie Labyrinth, “Such a pity…”
Thanks.
I gotta say i kinda admire blizzard for how sneaky they were with disguising the boost question in the survey. I believe it was something to the affect of would you like tbc servers to start from lvl 58. Clap clap mr burns smile
You cannot base what the community wants off of what you see on the Forums and from Madseason’s video.
The Forums have always been a place for people to complain about something they don’t like. If people are happy with the state of the game, or don’t have a problem with boost in this case, most the time they are just going to stay off the forums and wait for BC to release.
You keep on saying that the survey is not accurate because you didn’t get it. But then say that the likes on Madseason’s video is. Well I didn’t like or dislike his video so with your logic with the survey, his video is not accurate either.
Anyone who wanted to play a blood elf/draenei, so me. I absolutely love the decision.
The problem is going to be there’s going to be far more bored 60s happy to grief the draenei/blood elves, but that’s the trade off.
If you were already going to play TBC, you were going to do so regardless of boosting being offered. I don’t really understand what audience they were trying to appease. People who can’t or don’t want to level to 58 in classic but only want to play TBC? How do you even survey this demographic if they aren’t already playing classic?
It’s just a greedy little money grab at the cost of the quality of the game.
My guess is they want to reach out to people who downloaded Classic and gave up at some point because it wasn’t “their” game. BC itself might not be enough to draw those people back. I’m still on the fence about whether to even bother, but the ability to start playing in Outland right away is kind of a draw.
All of classic was a money grab. Thank you for supporting it
I got my money’s worth with Classic so far, but that’s mostly because the changes up to this point haven’t been as detrimental to the immersive aspects of the game as boosting will for sure be.
Blizzard appreciates your support for their $$ grab
I mean. If their cash grab is providing me exactly what I want, I’m happy.
Classic so far has been worth paying for. TBC will most likely not be if boosting is allowed.
I mean im all for it
But people sitting here calling boosts a $$ grab when thats what classic has literally been all along. Their entire goal is to maximize profit
But somehow this is different…just havent seen how so yet
I’ll disagree with that. It’s so minor and limited and I couldn’t even care if it wasn’t a one time thing. It doesn’t give you anything outside of potentially another capped character.
Yup, they’re hoping to cater to this hypothetical minority at the cost of the experience for everyone else. I just don’t feel like people who don’t enjoy Classic for its RPG elements are going to add much value to the community and world of TBC either/
They’re going with the assumption it doesn’t make much of an impact, and they’re right. The vast majority of the playerbase couldn’t care less about it. The people whining about boosts are a minority of a minority.
My take with world and community building for MMOs is that players have a sort of signature that develops on the world through their character. These imprints are what keep a world feeling vibrant and a big part of that is seeing the linear progression of other players your level throughout the journey. Being allowed to max level characters will assuredly bring about behavior that ultimately dilutes the value of each individual character and their impact on the world.
