They don’t even pay attention to their testers, so why do you think they listen to the forums? They also had a secret forum for specifically selected individuals who were incredibly valuable testers and they ignored them in the end too.
Also as much as I loved vanilla, it had glaring flaws and issues - only made more obvious with its rerelease.
Except this wouldn’t fix anything because many of those, “max level raiders” can also enjoy the leveling and world content.
Raiding isn’t actually that time consuming unless you’re absolute bleeding edge, so there’s a lot more stuff you want to do to fill time. Leveling hasn’t been a relevant time sink for people in the long run since… well, since we stopped being garbage at the game.
The biggest issue are the bloating of systems throughout the new content and especially at max level, and the intention of slowing players down to try and extend content. Which… is also what you’re suggesting.
I just don’t think leveling was one of them. I do agree that it does have issues, though. Ret Paladins, for example, and all the other specs that are way behind and really could use rebalancing. Players boosting each other is obviously a huge problem they chose to ignore. I have to wonder if a lot of the issues they decided to ignore was to appease streamers like asmongold, who I honestly think purposefully wants a toxic environment to take advantage off. He often goes off on tales of how he used to ninja loot. I see him scream at raiders drill sergeant style over mythic raids. Companies care what streamers think now, no matter who those people are.
Man, I don’t even care if its slow for everyone else. Give me a toggle or something to make it slow for me. Maybe a little “Enable BFA Leveling” and I could just enjoy that experience as if it just came out. Maybe an option in chromie time or something. Then it could just be turned off for dungeons or when I leave the expansion. I just like to see the ding occasionally as I quest, its not too much to ask.
it seems to me you WANT to play retail because of all the awesome quests and stuff you’d like to do but feel like you can’t because of the leveling squish? am i reading that correctly?
Yes, you are reading that correctly. The level squish makes the game feel bad to me. Don’t get me wrong, though. The quests arent top quality. The writing in BFA has been laughable garbage so far.
i felt that way for a bit as well. but it’s nice to pick and choose to do whatever quests you want. i made a new maghar frost dk after it happened and he went from like 35-45ish in GHOSTLANDS. and i got full exp and had a ton of fun. it’s a different mindset, of course. but you are generally allowed to make your own fun.
That’s true enough. I just worry when I hit 50 my gear won’t be advancing, and my levels wont be advancing, but I will still be trying to stomach the writing that is BFA. Jaina is so badly written now. I hate her new costume. I don’t know why they did my main home girl so dirty. And don’t get me started on Sylv, holy golly. I need a chaser for this shot.
do you like professions? you can level a profession and make yourself appropriate gear i think. it seems to have different tiers of things you can craft. like tier 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the same item that is a different level if you use the item to make it that specific level range. i got plenty of good stuff from quests though so i just did gathering to make some gold.
I didnt ask for it but I’m going to use it and run through tbc. I gave classic a shot and it wasnt for me. I’d like to check out tbc first hand too. Now I dont have to level a toon in classic. It’s a win for me at least.
When you say “who”, do you mean existing players? Because they don’t matter. Boosts are for NEW players – people who aren’t yet players. How do people who are not players yet “ask”?
The boost has PROVEN over the last 6 years to add new players to the game. Blizzard is not stupid enough to let “existing players” decide how Blizzard attracts new players. We have no experience.
If you personally want WoW to shrink and die, instead of growing, too darn bad.
This was a community-driven survey that Blizzard had no part in, confined to (as far as I’m aware) this forum, which as you can see the vocal minority is way more interested in voicing their thoughts than the people who are excited about boosts. And they still lost
My point in bringing up the community survey was not to hold it up as de facto proof, it was to compare it to the anti-boosters’ constant use of using the Madseason video’s like/dislike ratio as proof that most people are against boosts. You people really will try to twist anything to your favor, huh?
