Where do the gold farmers, dungeon boosters, speedrunners, and other assorted sweaties factor into it?
indirectly, everyone sitting in sfk/sm/mara being boosted by a mage.
a lot of people in that case. people that currently play classic wow
Dungeon boosting should also be addressed, along with botting. The sweaty players I don’t really care much for since they do put more effort into the game. There should be some sort of reward for being sweaty hah.
Sure, to some extent. But adding a transfer option completely removes that “footprint” or “signature” of sorts. Also, if they quietly level and just happen to start doing things with others at 60, there’s not really a difference between that and a boost. They didn’t really have a signature prior to it.
Also, in TBC, this is only going to get worse. It’s rather selfish to suggest players should have to level the entire way regardless of what the developer thinks just to populate the world for you.
The ease with which players can boost to 60 using dungeons also dilutes the overall value of each character. That’s honestly the worst part about it all. A toon used to mean something. You’d pore over the little details and become more engaged in seeing your character as more than a mere vessel for your in-game inputs.
The value of each character becomes diluted when you reduce the commitment required to level. The reputation of a player on a server also matter less if it doesn’t carry the same consequence of losing a significant investment This will obviously result in more antisocial behavior.
except we’ve grown as players. we’re no longer satisfied with just buttonmashing a 1-2 button rotation all day every day on 1 character. we wanna experience and raid on other characters. theres just one issue, a monumental slog standing between your lvl 1 and raiding.
The signature is built even if they aren’t actively engaging with you. The more ingrained an individual’s signature upon a realm, the less likely they are to want to transfer, creating more sustainable communities.
Even if two players never directly engage in an activity, they have an indirect effect on each other to help build up an ambiance of a living world.
Is this not the experience retail is already designed to deliver? I think that design philosophy and approach is perfectly fine for retail. In the case of Classic, we should be more cautious about making changes that would have definitely never made the cut if proposed to the original design team.
retail has other issues with it. shadowlands isnt as bad about this but legion and bfa for sure wanted you to play the game like a job just to be raid ready on 1 character. i handled it in legion, bfa i played significantly less alts shadowlands, im not playing. though not because of the chores. slands is actually fine there. it just has other issues.
as long as theres not a ton of quest competition i actually dont mind questing, but im also not above buying a level or two off a mage. mostly in the 30s range
So you want players to level slower, and have to level from 1 regardless of the fact we’re in TBC, so they can act as a backdrop and make the world feel more alive to you?
Wow.
I like to think of Classic as an opiate while retail is Adderall. I play for a different kind of high, I suppose.
I can enjoy running around doing absolutely nothing in Classic. It’s just that good. It’s a true escape.
I want to play with people who don’t hate playing the game. If my bias selects for those who genuinely enjoy running around playing the game, I think Classic would be a fantastic experience.
I honestly feel like Shadowlands is the worst of the three for it, especially because you grind and grind and get very little reward for it.
Legion at least had compelling content, better gameplay, and interesting stories for each class. Covenants are trash by design.
Good point
If you can’t base the decision to add or to not add boosts to classic tbc off of either madseasons vid or the survey, then it’s better that the boosts had never been mentioned at all or added as they were never apart of tbc, and the classic community didn’t want them when classic was originally released.
What are you even talking about?
Honestly? How far down the rabbit hole have you gone?
Mad’s video is an OPINION piece.
Can you please sit back and relax a bit? My word bro. . Your foil hat is too tight.
I’m relaxed brotha, and it’s not my fault if you can’t understand plain English. I can’t help you with that
Not to these idiots its not
Its gospel to the empty minds of many
Stop the boost!
Um… a good majority of the player-base wants boosts… because the leveling process in vanilla/classic was so bad… the people that enjoy it are either masochists or are RPing. I wanna play TBC but don’t wanna go through vanilla again, so they introduced boosts. That’ll bring players like myself in…
