I didn’t really even wanna play since my Exp with WoW wasn’t that fun till TBC but my Friends (who all quit before 35) all preached how amazing it was so I decided to join them once again. I had fun for the first 3 months more than I thought I would. Leveling with everyone and doing 5 mans was pretty enjoyable and that’s where it stopped.
But now that we are getting into the nitty gritty and people are Max level it’s becoming apparent Classic has all the problems I remember.
Honor system is terrible.
World PvP was terrible.
Raid logging is boring. (At least it cleared in a couple hours now a days)
Leveling Alts just doesn’t feel fun now that the Rush of leveling is over.
I’m having a hard time staying motivated to play now. It’s not like we have Arena (single best addition to WoW ever) to occupy the time
I am NOT going to grind away my life in AV.
I am NOT in any way shape or form looking forward to getting to AQ and having to go back n reclear MC/Ony/BWL every week to help gear new players/alts or miss out in DKP and screw myself over.
Are you guys still on the Classic hype train or are we back to realizing TBC took Vanilla and made it good like we all said 10 years ago.

I went back to Retail a month ago.
Classic is a hot pile of garbage.

I had fun while leveling and doing the dungeons. What i didn’t like was the game coming out based on patch 1.12 since it has made all of the early raids extremely easy, i could live with that though - begrudgingly.
What caused me to stop my subscription is the sheer number of bugs in the game as well as exploits that blizzard takes forever to fix. The raid xp exploit that happened at the beginning of the game’s release helped to neuter the economy, layering exploits added on top of that.
Most classes still have bugs, some are extremely buggy with mechanics like Rogues with vanish and hunters with FD. If they ever fix that stuff i might re sub but at the moment this isn’t worth the monthly fee, pservers are less buggy over all and those are done by nerds living in their mom’s basement, not a billion dollar company like blizzard.

Honor system made WPvP terrible; phase 1 was fantastic and servers felt much less grief-ish thanks to no honor craze, on my server there were multiple occasions to defend cities or capitals from Alliance raids and there were plenty of Horde attacks on theirs.
Leveling alts is the same way it was at the start; it’s fun with people to do it with. I get my friends to level with me and it’s still fun. Is it as fun as an entire server of fresh players running amok in Barrens? No, obviously, but playing alone on day 1 would be just as boring as it would be right now.
I’m not running out of things to do. I’ve got plenty of quests and I love all of the end game dungeons except for LBRS. BGs are bad but again my problem with them stems from Classic’s honor system.
From what I’ve read, Arenas were stupid. I like the game more when PvP happens within the RPG; when the RPG makes way for PvP, you end up having to water down the former to make the latter work.

I haven’t touched Classic. I do, however, pay attention to the forums. At its release, players were truly overjoyed with the game. The forum was chock full of positive and optimistic topics. It seems the trend has become complaints aimed at Classic and players who still are having fun defending Classic.
That’s my observation.

Obviously, this is a subjective thing. I vastly prefer Arenas to BGs, personally, and am looking forward to TBC for them.
I actually really enjoyed Phase 2. I just wish it has lasted a lot longer. I know a lot of people complained about it though.
If I had one wish, it would be that they hadn’t implemented server transfers. That hasn’t been a good experience for me, but perhaps it’s time for me to move on now anyway.

Arena was great. The best part is if you didn’t like it you didn’t have to do it!
It was nice to have a competitive space for small skirmish PvP. It was also a good filler for when you had all your PvE done for the week.

I’m still enjoying classic, but I do still prefer any expansion that was MOP or earlier simply for the class design + arenas.

I didn’t publish any threads, but my personal opinion (for months before Classic went live) was that I would try it briefly and go back to BFA. Instead, I have been playing Classic every day since it launched, ignoring BFA.
And it isn’t because I dislike BFA. I am not loyal to Blizzard. I will play the game I like the most. But since 2004 that has been WoW. I have tried 5 other MMOs (for 1 to 5 months) and ended up coming back to WoW.

I’ve enjoyed finding familiar players from back in vanilla, leveling up to 60, the WPVP at 60 and the first AV game i played in classic. I played 5+ hours a day for a good 4 months with a small guild i’ve played with back in vanilla, which i’ve enjoyed every moment of it (non-min/maxing mentality guild).
That enjoyment started getting chopped up after realizing that the majority of the players are min/maxing, focusing fully on meta rather than relaxed gameplay for all to enjoy and becoming toxic to you if you hinder them from achieving their goal, always finding a way to make AV last less than 10 min, and probably some other minor things. It’s doesn’t feel like that i am playing an oldschool mmorpg. I know vanilla isn’t new and it has been played for 15 years before classic released, but the whole min/maxing and having to always one up on the meta isn’t so fun but off putting by being forced by other players to play by their rule set, otherwise ________ (insert unnecessary toxic criticism here).
Anyways, thats just me and i’m sure some others. Regardless, wow classic’s world and features still makes it an awesome game.

Yeppers, it’s all of that and more.
However, I’m still having fun and have no desire to go back to retail anytime soon. I like the way my toons play again which is something I haven’t been able to say about retail since MoP. As long as my toons are fun, I can overlook a lot of things.
I will never say never but I have no intention of returning to retail. I will see how things pan out for the next xpac but I have zero expectations. I still do not have BFA.
I’m glad people still like retail. I’m not going to sit around and bash one version over the other. I’m just not Blizzards target audience anymore.

Im still having fun.
I never experienced end game vanilla, so this is all new to me.
I have no interest in the honor grind, so it doesn’t affect me
If you find a guild that doesn’t mind taking extra time to clear raids instead of Min/Maxing everything to zerg through them just to get to the loot pinatas, its still fun.

Why do you think so many people kept saying people were remembering Vanilla through “rose colored glasses” and “nostalgia”. People remembered.

My stance has changed only in the sense that I wanted to give classic a try but wasn’t sure how long I’d stick with it without all of the quality of life changes that I enjoy in retail, but it turns out I’m enjoying it so much more than I ever thought I would. Still just as disenchanted with most aspects of retail, but having a ball in classic.

Same but only 2 of the MMO’s I tried kinda stuck during a break from WoW.
SWTOR and BDO.
I eventually always come back to WoW though.
I remembered Vanilla pretty well and am happy with Classic. The only things I am not happy about are the various changes Blizzard – in their great and wondrous wisdom – felt the need to make. No game is perfect, but I like MMOs and Classic is much better than the abomination that is retail WoW.

I like classic still. I don’t take it too seriously, it’s just a game dude.
Don’t take pvp ranks seriously, that part was always dumb.

I think people have started to remember now that the leveling experience is over.
A lot of people just won’t see the benefits of sticking around for the grind. Most people will be gone before AQ.
if your misery needs company, i cant help you. i like classic still a lot.
