I know it’s not the exact same as vanilla, but it’s really close. I’m loving it. I don’t overdo it like a lot of people have trying to race to get somewhere. And personally I love that it’s not going to change. So I don’t have to try and relearn how a class works, or how a dungeon or raid runs. If they didn’t keep changing retail and only added to it I probably would have kept loving that version of the game. So no, I’m not going back to retail. I will stay on classic a long time.
I ground to exalted in a week and haven’t been back since.
Meh theres very little else to do right now if you’re not a pvper.
Never was on it, I was looking forward to it but with very realistic expectations and thats the key to this game, Cause at the end of the day it is a game.
My stance has always been that Classic is something that I would play when I got bored. I may or may not ever get to level 60.
That’s the thing, Right now It’s fine not to log in.I have my consumes farmed for this raid week and we’re not even raiding. I’ve logged in, done a few laps for ore logged off. Our GM is realistic and knows that come raid day we will all be there cause we’re not burning ourselves out unless we want too.
I’ve always been a lore/story person and Retail is a hotpile of nonsense. The train for a meaningful and well scripted story left the station around when Blizz moved away from MMORPG to MMO-E-Sports back in MoP.
I’m mostly in Classic for the nostalgia and the untainted story as it was after the RTS stories.
I am but one of few (or many) who hopes for a Classic+ but will be content until I get to the end of all of this and likely never touch WoW again (even if a BC/WotLK Classic came out).
So I never played private servers, but from what I understand they start to die right after the AQ gates open. The AQ opening event is regarded as one of the greatest in-game events in wow history. I would think there’s alot of people hanging around just to experience it, and then they’ll bail.
The funny thing about the AQ event is everyone and their mom thinks they can get the mount, same way they can hit rank 14 playing 3 hours a day. It’ll be entertaining to see the complaining
Wow you sound like s terrible person to have in a guild.
It’s that retail vs classic mentality.
“What’s in it for me?”
This! This is probably the biggest thing for me. Not being “balanced” to make everyone the same.
I wouldn’t say that, it’s just the modern gamer mentality. We’ve had a decade+ of games telling us were special and throwing rewards at us left and right. Look at the phone games, you get power ups and bonuses just for playing a few days in a row, you don’t even need to play, just open the game lol
Yes, and have you noticed the absurd amount of spell and other arbitrary effects. Its like RGB vomit in a computer case when I play retail.
Well… retail IS modern. I understand that it’s not exclusive just to retail(wow) players.
But I suppose modern would be a more apt term.
Classic is still the only WoW I will play. Sure, it has problems, but most of those problems are from their implementation. They should have stuck with the vanilla timeline, vanilla server caps, and put off xrealm BGs until phase 6. Every problem I have with Classic stems from those 3 things.
Hated TBC, if I quit Classic I’m going back to Outward and waiting on news about New World.
Sure? Sorry but I don’t find enjoyment going back n doing MC/Ony/BWL over n over just to help gear people that inevitably will either Quit/Leave.
Arguably Arena is the single biggest reason why we have class homogenization and what really ruined wpvp. Arena has been, and always will be, total flaming hot garbage and the true end of WPVP and the downfall of wow.
Yeah I know what you mean. Movies and TV are the same way, it’s all about impressive visuals. If you watched GoT you know exactly what I mean. Last two seasons the story became garbage as they focused on huge battle scenes and sweet looking shots. Depressing.
And I could not agree more on RGB stuff. It’s hard to find anything without it. And every “gaming” mouse and keyboard just looks the batmobile. It’s ridiculous. Why can’t I have a normal looking mechanical keyboard. The other one that gets me is RGB headsets. ITS ON YOUR HEAD, YOU CAN’T SEE IT!!!
But farming raids to gear up other raid members is what progression raiding has always been about. Sounds like you just don’t like raiding.
I’m not sure what made anyone think that they were going to play classic endlessly and always have fun. It’s a video game guys. You have your fun and then you quit and play something else.
It’s not a disaster to not want to play the same game for 5 months or more. I also can’t comprehend why people talk about running out of motivation, as if playing is required of them but they find it miserable.
Just move on. If you want to play again later, the download is only like 6gb.
FTFY
I’ve brought this up in other threads but arenas didn’t kill WPvP. Neither did BG’s, or flying, or dailies or whatever other reason people throw out there. Wpvp inevitably kills itself. If I’ve learned anything in classic it’s that a huge majority of players don’t actually enjoy world pvp, just the implication. Nobody realized this because retail’s pvp servers have all been 99/1 for close to 10 years now. People on the majority faction on a server don’t enjoy it, they just enjoy dumping on people who can’t fight back. The minority faction doesn’t like it, so they leave. BOOM!!! One faction pve server. I was just surprised how fast it happened in classic.
But regarding class balance and arenas I agree with you completely. The game would be better off if RBG’s were added in BC instead or arenas.
