I think I have finally decided to main a warlock in classic. I am heavily leaning toward alliance because I want to experience the classic quests and zones that I did in 2004 (except as a priest then). I know at 60 for pvp I will wish I was horde but…
So human warlock, going affliction to siphon life I guess so leveling will consist of applying dots and a fear, then moving on to next mob.
What race/faction warlock will you play?
Gnome warlock, for the racial and I’m one of THOSE people that like Gnomes.
Use the voidwalker asap, get it at lvl 10. Easy quest, get a wand as early as possible, with it you will have 0 downtime, dont just spam shadowbolt till you go oom, you will kill the mob faster but you will loose out over time because you will need to stop to drink or eat after life tapping.
First aid is your best friend, don’t let yourself be at 100% mana or health. You always want to be gaining something from the natural regen, it makes a big difference, even running between places, if you are at 80% mana but 100% hp, tap once and let the mana and hp regen while running.
edit: also Blessing of Salvation is your friend once you get some hit gear later on in PVE.

For me the only warlock is Gnome. They’ve grown on me over the years.

Human warlock here. Just need to decide between male or female. It all about looks and casting animations for me and both sexes have pros and cons.

Likely undead or human for me, depending on who I find to play with.
I’m going to go demo w/ improved VW for leveling, then swap build at 60. Your first respect is only 1g.
Remember, in Vanilla you can’t just sit and run. You’ll be unlikely to just lay mobs down with a single cast of 3 dots or so. Then you’ll end up with a pot full of trouble.
I prefer to sick VW, dot on his approach, and wand like crazy! Early wants are also more powerful than most spells if you get them fast. I have a tactic to get a wand fast, but you’ll have to figure that one out on your own.
Gnome or Orc. Either make decent Locks.
Wouldnt get too hung up on a “spec”. You’re a Warlock, your talents will influence your playstyle, but in the end you’re still a Warlock, with all the tools of a Warlock.
Orc warlocks are the OGs. Plus they have the best PvP racials. An orc warlock will be my primary alt.
Orc. Stun resist and more pet damage makes it the best choice just on those alone.
Seriously you’re probably wasting your PvP stuns on an Orc in Vanilla.
I don’t recall orcs stun resist being all that effective. Then again, I was a hunter, so I probably wouldn’t have noticed anyways… lol
It’s 25% effective. Against rogues that means you have a 43.75% chance to resist their cheap shot, kidney shot or both.
And every Alliance class can stun except warlocks. And warlocks can still use grenades. So everyone potentially has a means to stun.

Hmm… I’d have to revisit the talents and abilities. I don’t recall hunter having a stun except a pet one. It’s been a LOT of years though. I think we had a pet stun in BM, concussive shot (?) which was like a confusion/daze.
Yep that’s the one. It’s a talent, sure. But beastmastery is a pretty popular PvP talent tree if memory serves.
Orc is by far the most iconic, best race in terms of role play and getting into your character. They’re also best for PvP by a wide margin. Not terrible in terms of PvE either. Warlorc is all about orc - it’s in the name.

I think after they introduced some of the better stuff that it did gain traction. Particularly bestial Wrath!
I wish Orc Warlocks could grow demon spikes like Gul’dan

Forsaken for me. Going pretty heavy Destro with some Demo.

5/5 improved corruption
3/3 improved imp, 2/2 healthstone
The rest in destruction, with the 2/2 faster imp firebolt. Makes a decent difference in PvP with your imp pushing back every second.
Just my build
Destro up to 45 because I always wanted to try it - I only ever went affliction/aemo.
At 45 I’m going Soul Link + Improved Corruption, and then building to Grim Reach/Nightfall. I did this back in the day during vanilla, and while warlocks were already pretty amazing for world/leveling PvP if played properly… Soul Link build nearly made me feel unstoppable.
