One of my favorite things in the game is AOE DPS and just seeing ridiculously high numbers on trash packs and what not.
Which classes pack the biggest punch in AOE fights?

Never played wrath really and there’s lots of info on top DPS, but it’s mostly single target info.
Unholy dk for everything AoE
There’s a Fan of Knives Rogue build that claims to be the best AoE dps in WotLK but requires a lot of micro managment.

Boomies have the best burst AoE with Starfall and Hurricane.
Locks might have the best sustained AoE
Mages have good sustained AoE too.
As for other classes I’m not sure as I’m not familliar with them.
Yeah like someone else said rogues do crazy burst aoe from a couple of vods I’ve seen of the min maxers going at it. Unholy will always be good but they are more sustain than burst so if the mobs die fast enough rogues will always be better.
As for range not sure guess we will have to see, I hear demo lock is king from private server talk. Although it seems like everyone does a lot of aoe damage so there’s no clear winner like mage and warlock before.
Depends on the type of mobs… mobs with little HP get eaten up by boomkins in AoE
Mobs with tonnes of HP is where Unholy dks absolutely shine.
Most other classes are capable of putting out decent aoe numbers as well
