Which Class in FF is all about the build up?

Could you be a little more specific? Im not sure what you mean by that. Do you mean you want a class where you spend a period of time making sure a variety of different buffs/resources align for the big fat burst moment?

??? Are you somehow offended by his question?

I mean… black mage is easy to understand but the variance in the parses strongly suggest that the gap between the average black mage and the best black mage is massive. More so than other classes.

samurai is a cool builder

Yes, I came here expecting to see WoW related topics. Again, have some respect.

Samurai has build up and secondary resource management

Just don’t click the thread if it bothers you so much. Have some respect for the OP

Samurai. You have 3 smaller combos you do to build up a secondary resource, and then you use a “Big” flashy move from that. Actually depending on how many of the initial combos you went through, the “Big Move” does different things:

1 Combo - DMG + DoT
2 Combos - AoE cone
All 3 Combos - MASSIVE single target damage.

Samurai is considered one of the “Pure” DPS Jobs because it doesn’t have much if any group buffs or support skills; but it has rediculous damage.

OP it sounds like you want a Black Mage (Thaumaturge)
They have a Fire/Ice resource with 3 ranks. Building up fire gives you massive damage and massive mana consumption, and building up ice gives you massive mana regen.

So you do BIG damage at fire, then flip to ice, redo your dot and maybe throw out some ice dps, and flip back to fire for damage. Doing the rotation correctly at later game lets you throw out INSANE damage and casting fire 1 eventually procs a big burst with a freecast instant fire 3, and the lightning dot also procs a big instant cast.

Doing the rotation right means staying in Astral (fire) phase longer and spending less time in Umbral (ice) phase where your dps is lower. It feels very good to do it right and blow something up with a Fire 3, then your lightning proc. Theres also crazy OP finishers like Xenoglossy, but my Black mage level isnt high enough to play with that yet.

All in all, it sounds very similar to what your asking for.

I honestly believe that you are looking for blackmage like vincent says.

Summoner is probably the only one with the most complicated build up, but in terms of execution producing massive gaps between normal and skilled players? Blackmage.

Studied black mage and leveled one into the 30s and all of the above sounds accurate. At low level they are kind of basic but seem to make up for it later.

2 1/2 minute opening rotation for optimal play. Nothing wrong with non-optimal for 99% of content, but its just Not my cup of tea.
BLM rewards you heavily for positioning and knowing when to use your CDs.

Low Level your BLM rotation will be somethig like
Ice - Lightning - Transpose (puts you into fire) - Fire until OOM - Transpose (puts you back in ice)
Then you just repeat that as needed.

Later it gets more complicated and you’ll probably stop using transpose and you get procs to manage but that will get you through the first 30ish levels.

It sounds like red mage would be 100% for you, but its unlockedviat lvl 70 quest and you can lvl it from lvl 50(think dks or dhs).

You would also really enjoy black mage since they build up stacks of fire or ice.

Summoner is VERY much the best caster DPS and the most complex one.

Unless you took Summoner to 70+ you arent going to see much of the actual gameplay of the job, mind you.

The WoW forums are “next to LOL forums” some of the most TOXIC game forums you will ever encounter. They whine and moan about how the game sucks and how they are unsubbing if “insert random complaint here” is not fixed like they have 51% of the holdings.

Then they get all up in arms when someone says that another game is fun and do a 180 and praise the game - then when the hype dies down they go to bashing their own game again.

Parasites or Bad Fans “Hate us when we are losing. Love us when we are winning.”

It sounds like red mage is that class for you. A red mage works like this:

  • You have a white bar and a blue bar that you need to fill past 80
  • A third of your spells fill the white bar, a third fill the blue bar, and a third fill both bars
  • Red mages have a special “dual cast” trait that makes every other spell instant cast, so all spells are cast in pairs: one short cast-time spell followed by an instant cast of a long cast-time spell
  • When you fill both bars to 80, you’re ready to swap to your melee combo, which is the high damage burst that you’re talking about. Each skill on that combo depletes your bar, and that’s why you need to fill the bar to at least 80 to get your full rotation off
  • During your casting phase, your spells have a chance to proc, enabling you to cast a more powerful version of them
  • There is a skill that allows you to instantly jump to your target in order to do the melee combo, and one that allows you to leap back. That way you can continue to cast at range, if that’s how you prefer to play

Well, if we’re talking about respect than the OP should respect these forums and users by finding a FFXIV forum to ask questions, or AT THE VERY LEAST post it in the off-topic forum.

Vulpera posters are always complaining about everyone else being toxic while being the most toxic people on the forums.
