Came back after a super long leave and I can’t find RP anywhere. Even in Stormwind City I found a total of 3 people in front of the AH. And from what I’ve seen over the last couple of days of logging in at random times during the day (work from home ftw)…that seems to be it. There aren’t even any RP events in the group finder anymore (Gil RP, Muder Mystery RP etc.). Did we change where RP is at?
Firstly, this expansion has been somewhat lacklustre for most RPers I know - its themes are by and large detached from what the average Azerothian can accomplish or even witness, and so people fade away.
Secondly, there’s a lot of chores these days. A lot. People have less time.
Thirdly and, from what I’ve seen, most damningly, Blizzard’s recent sexual harrassment lawsuit controversy caused players to quit in droves, and has led to a reduction in RP across the board. Stormwind has dried up to the point of basically no longer having RP at all, Silvermoon has done the same, and Orgrimmar is really quiet and limited to one tavern. Even Moon Guard Alliance has taken a hit, looking in terms of population a lot like WRA Alliance did in early BFA. Public events have taken a hit with this population reduction too - though the crossfaction Year of the Scourge campaign is still going strong.
In short mate… dark times have come to Azeroth’s RP scene and I think the onus is on Blizzard to improve as a company and improve their game before there’s any real chance of it growing again.
Everyone’s heading right off to Final Fantasy 14 instead.
Geez. I came from FFXIV since I’ve been playing that for 6+ months lol. That’s a shame. Looks like I’ll just head back until this eventually blows over.
Less people in general as Sarestha outlined, but I also think as far as WRA Alliance goes there’s been a self-fulfilling prophecy about it declining. Where when conversations come up about it, it’s not uncommon to have people drop in and say MG is for Alliance and WRA is for Horde.
So little by little I feel like people have migrated, and the more people migrate the less people there are, causing more people to believe in the decline and migrate.
Yes people have left and yes times are bleak, but you can always come to Duskwood, we do stuff in the evenings, from seven pm server to midnight and sometimes later. WrA as a whole rps later in the night cause a lot of us are working adults.
Sorry my Duskwood shill post isn’t as bombastic as usual, uh. Have a pumpkin.
We had a conversation about this in another thread so I won’t type a paragraph, but a concentrated effort at the beginning of next expansion could bring life back to WRA-A.
There’s gonna be an update about some Aussie timezone Alliance RP in a few days too
As others have said, Alliance isn’t doing so well but RP as a whole is not doing so well.
Will plug the Mead Hall as they are continuing to have weekly public events in game. You don’t need to be a Dwarf to join, myself and other non-Dwarfs regular attend.
Use to play on WRA-A couldn’t ignore the decline in RP any longer and decided to go to MG. Maybe will do some cross server events. I wish those that remain all the best!
Thankfully I have a character or two over there as well
I like how it says its the “original” silence. Like someone took a microphone into a time machine and went back to the primordial darkness that existed before the riotous noise of the big bang, recorded 10 hours of it and came back.
WRA-A had been declining for a while already. The game as a whole is declining, now, too.
Good.
As stated above- there’s a decline overall, there’s a decline overall in RP, and both are extremely clear on WrA-A. RP still exists, largely outside the Recluse and maybe at Lion’s Rest, but where it used be from 8pm-2am (or so) EST, now it’s much more like 10pm-?am EST.
The takeaway is Wymries are nocturnal. Also come to Duskw-
I don’t know. I’ve looked around at multiple different times. Early all the way until past midnight. Saw maybe 7-10 people in total.
What if those 7 to 10 people want to roleplay with you and you’re writing them off because they aren’t a massive crowd? A small welcoming community has it’s upsides too.
7-10 people in WoW is 7-10 more people than I currently speak with in-game.
Quality > quantity
