Hey guys. What is the first things I need to be doing to start gearing when I hit 70? I’m kind of lost😅
Head to Quel’danas and start those quests to get to exalted for one.
Regular dungeons and rep to get beginner 70 gear
Buy all the faction gear, only need friendly for some decent “pvp” pieces but they are good starters for pve too. Then prob the group quests in area 52 and shadow moon valley. Then maybe sneak in a Kara or heroics? While doing isle dailies
If i was hitting 70 on my first character here is a list of things I’d look at.
Pvp gear season 2 is honored can get a good starting weapon. (Even just the 2 dailies is a good start)
Isle of queldanas dailies/rep this grind isn’t all that hard and gives a decent amount of gold which leads to…
Phase 2/3 crafted gear these should be a few hundred gold by this point. Like for warrior the red belt of battle was 400g last I looked and swiftsteel shoulders only 500g. If you are of the profession for your armor type you can also look into the BoP craft able recipes from these phases as well which would get you up to 4 or so armor pieces
After these I’d look into Kara badge runs/za runs.
People above said reps/heroics but honestly unless your doing it for badges it would be better to go straight to the 10 man raids.
BG / Towers / Hellfire dailies for honor. Best weapon you’ll get is the season 2 Merciless Gladiator one, better than anything off regular dungeons / crafting and both easy and guaranteed.
From there it’ll depend on class and spec. Crafted gear is a good option, some rep items as well, some from honor or arenas, etc. Is this for your avatar (troll hunter) or another character?
This is for my troll hunter. My only 70 so far!
You go to BGs and start buying honor purples. Honor vendor has made most quest/dungeon stuff obsolete.
Assuming it’s the one your posting on now id start doing the daily terrokar/hellfire daily.
If you are leather worker the boots of the crimson hawk recipe should be fairly cheap. The bindings of lightning reflexes should be cheap and easy enough to craft.
For starters, try to get reputations to Honored.
These will give you access to a decent starter PvP gear (can be used in PvE until replaced) and Keys to access heroic dungeons.
Google “Pre raid bis CLASS*”.
There are quite a few decent pieces of gear from some quests.
This will also give you an idea what pieces of loot to get from dungeons.
Also, don’t forget you do some farms on your professions!
One other thing you can do, is do daily PvP objectives in TForest and HFP. Also x1 daily battle ground. 19k honor will get you a very very solid weapon.
most of those guides are horribly out of date. They dont include BoE patterns / BoE crafted items from SSC / BT that are super cheap nowadays, badge items from later patches and S2 / offset honor gear. Many of their quest or heroic drop suggestions are worse than easier to get options.
a brand new player won’t have 200-400 gold to blow.
But using guide as a reference is still good.
There are some hidden quest items that are pretty good. Like healer’s triinket from Nagrand for example.
Or Def trinket from Netherstorm.
Its a good point of reference imho
Dudes, it is phase 5. Stop telling this man to do normal dungeons. If you’re trying to get geared before Wrath, do not waste your time with normal dungeons.
You can definitely get some excellent crafted pieces for not too too much gold.
Yep, few days for an S2 weapon. If you can do some 5v5 arena, it gives a lot of arena points, almost 1:1 whatever your rating is. So even a 500 rating is enough to buy an offhand after one week.
Huge agree. Badge gear is good, but Kara is several heroics’ worth of badges and takes way less time. Depending on your class some Kara drops are still quite good, too.
Bro what? You get way more than that just leveling 60-70. You get that much from one day of dailies. What???
Sure, if you had thousands of gold as fresh 70 (without classic GDKP rmt fest), then its no biggie.
There is still flying 5k cost
There are still professions leveling.
A brand new player is not going to know gold making strats. They just won’t.
I’m in the same boat here! Finally made it to 70 lol.
I bought bind on equip purples, did the faction dailies, and went the pvp gear route.
You can also make some decent stuff as a leather worker.
Nether Vortex is like 10g on my server and Heart of Darkness is 12g. Primal Nethers are 10g or lower. Where are you getting 400g for? Even the specialty tailoring clothes have gone way cheaper since the xpac is almost over and the 3-piece tailoring sets are pretty good entry level gear, far better than any normal and most heroic drops.
Also, 1 run of Quel’danas dailies is 120g. left over quests from levelling can also net quite a bit of gold due to xp->gold conversions.
A “brand new player” isn’t going to have 5k for epic flying, nor do they need it at all.
We’re talking about 200-400g. Like, the amount one day of dailies would generate.
Doing dailies is not some advanced tech lmaooo
Yeah. Every single brand new player is going to know exactly what to do, how, when & where.
You’re right.
A player who doesn’t even know where to start gearing as fresh 70, will absolutely know everything they need to know…except for where to start with gearing as fresh 70.
I mean, considering your answer to them was to google extremely outdated pre bis lists that would waste a ton of OP’s time for items that are essentially useless at this point in the game, you also don’t know how to gear as a fresh 70.
“Do quest, get gold from quest” is such deep strategy though, you’re right. No new player could understand such a thing. Never mind that they already made hundreds of gold from questing in the leveling process.
You fail to recognize the fact that everything is new to the OP.
Why would you want to throw a 6 year old into AP stats class. Yeah, 2nd grade math is pretty dull indeed.
New players still need/should/may want to experience casual play and still obtain some power.
Then why do normals?
WHy do Kara?
Tell him to ding 70 and go straight to BT/HJ/SWP. As all of T4/T5 is outdated.
