Im interested in learning to pvp and specifically in arena and was wondering where to start. Ive done a bit of research on general tips and tricks but should I start on bgs or just hop straight in grinding arenas to learn. Also if im interested in attempting to be a healer, should i use a dps first to get the hang of pvp or just go straight to healer (im also new to healing in general and will be practicing in pve also). Any advice on the topic would be appreciated even if veyond the scope of these specific questions.
I don’t know the place to go to learn but I will warn you that you’ll want to grow a very thick skin if you’re going to learn how to do rated PvP, there are more asses in this area of the game than a Pitbull music video.
Letting people you queue with know that you’re brand new to Arena and learning will lessen the chance that they’ll yell at you if you make a mistake or they lose the match and will help you find people that are happy to teach you; I didn’t start to learn things that I needed to know about my spec in rated Arenas until I came across someone willing to teach me what I needed to know.
Start in 2s with a healer, things are slower in there and you can see things like cool downs and positioning before you just die in one quick swap like in 3s
I’d skirm first as dps and just get the feel of the maps, etc. Then do LFG and post “noob, no d-bags” or “just for fun.”
People are looking for healers nowadays and you’ll find partners to learn.
I’ve found some of my best partners in LFG just doing “unrated” or “Low CR” games.
Thanks for the advice. Ive done a few random arenas but havent tried rated yet and yeah i dont tend to take much offense to sucking lol. Im aware that it will take a while to learn. Also how important is it to reach 120 and gear before arenas? Ive heard mixed things about item abd level scaling so just wondering if i hop into 2v2 with a holy pally thats 118, will it just be a massive detriment?
Rated aren is only available at max level. On top of that item level is a huge factor of how well you will do

dont play mage or rogue, those classes required a lot of experience and skill. try something easy like warlock.
Well as of now based on levels, my options are dh,dk,warrior, pally, and druid.
Skirmishes help a lot. Learning set ups and rotations. Then test those rotations in battleground. Dont aim to win. Aim to get your rotation right under pressure. Then more skirmish practice. Then hop into arenas
I wish I was a boomer, I’d probably be rich and retired spending my days telling kids to get off my lawn.
omg yessss lolol
rando bgs and skirms to get started
keep in mind that gear matters a ton.
if u r 430 ilvl you will never ever ever everr beat a 440 guy with equal skill
pvp for casul players is extremely bad this patch
you start in mythic dungeon for pvp now xd
I disagree here. If you pick DH, warlock or mage you will be fine regardless of ilvl. Any other class gear matters.
