I’m curious about how this started to pop up, I’m honestly not against them because their designs aren’t so bad, but how did this start?

There is one player that posts on 3-4 goblin characters that really, really wants them. Everyone else just seems to think its the logical idea since we ally with them in 8.2 and they are goblins and there isn’t a goblin AR yet.

How things initially started.
Gilblin and I were some of the first to really actively start asking about them. Gilgoblin first made the Gilgoblin Megathread back in July 18th. For a while it was on and off. But eventually for a while there was little talk about Gilgoblins for a while. That thread didn’t have much activity for a months even at one point.
How things started igniting again.
Now if anyone knows I am a HUGE goblin nerd. Like as in nearly all my toons are goblins and its a long story, but anyway. I heard about Nazjatar coming out and then after doing the quest deep dive in the war campaign, I could have sworn I saw Hobart talking about some experimentation on Gilgoblins.
So a few months ago I started talking about Gilgoblins as the possibility for an allied race because of a number of different things that lead me to believe they could be possible. I won’t go into all that now. Initially I was usually met with reactions such as"Nobody wants Gilgoblins", “There are much better alternatives for allied races”, “there is no reason they will become one” things like this. And for a while I just kind of didn’t press it much because I wasn’t feeling too confident about it. However…
After a while of hearing so much about other allied races, I decided I really wanted to speak out out Gilgoblins cause I know I would love these as an AR if done right. And a lot of the stuff I was hearing was just downright untrue about people who want them. So. I started making some threads on the topic and trying to counter some of the anti Gilgoblin discussion I’ve seen on these forums. This went on for a while and closer to the release of Nazjatar, it started becoming every more intense.
When things really began to spike
As Nazjatar was announced for ptr, goblin female models+icons were datamined a lot more discussion began surrounding them as I expected to happen. This was when the Gilgoblin Discussion Megathread started becoming really active and a lot of people in the goblin discord too notice of this. It has become a hot topic and more people who want Gilgoblins have been talking about it. Someone posted this to a facebook group and a lot of interesting ideas were presented and many people started warming up to the idea of Gilgoblins more and more.
Thats essentially a rundown of how things a lot more began to spike in Gilgoblin interest and even more is excepted when Nazjatar is fully out.

Not only do I genuinely want them, but I think they are much more unique and enjoyable than a race such as Vulpera. We don’t have one aquatic race yet. And if blizzard was to update their models with bioluminescent hair and fins. Give them some nice lore, they could be a great race.

Aye, 8.2.5 they’re lookin’ to release the new Worgen/Goblin models and such. When they’re released, their animations will probably be updated along with em.
Short race problems 
Goblin ladies have the best sneak animation.
They barely have any lore and they are an infantile race, they haven’t even existed for 20 years, they have no culture.
Goblins have only been freed from the trolls for about 105 years and Gilgoblins gain many of their traits from goblins. Culture wise. This is something that easily could change in Nazjatar or from the time period to next expansion.

Its not bad, if one of you passionate goblin lovers want to pay for a race change I will try them out:P
Also I think we are getting vulpera as our next AR, a lot of stuff pointing to it.
I sure hope so. I hate how goblin females only have one spellcasting animation as opposed to every other race/gender having two. Even female vulpera have a unique animation for targeted spells vs AoE spells and they just ripped the female goblin animations.

Chronicle says 100 years before the Dark Portal, which would put it at around 133 years.
This I am not quite positive of then. The place I read this from was the wow wiki. And the wow wiki has been known to be false at times though. However not everything in the chronicals is cannon to wow either. Should be wary of them.
The entire point of Chronicle is to be the definitive canon guide.

Well either way. The whole point here to begin with is that despite how short of a time they have been around, they can have a solid history and culture if done right. You’d be surprised just how much can happen in 20 years. Not only this. There is also the time period between this expansion and the next one. Could be that they develop into something more by next expansion. The possibility also still lies that another goblin race may be the AR that hasn’t been seen yet. Possibly not until next expansion. Lets not forget that 133 years is absolutely nothing to a blood elf or Draenei.
I have no problem with more allied races. More the merrier.
But there’s only like 5 people on the planet who play as regular goblins. They are an ugly, stunted race and they collectively have one personality. They blow stuff up and they’re greedy.
The gilbins are the same except they swim. I personally don’t see the attraction. If they were released I’d probably level it to 60 and abandon him in the slogfest that’s 60-80 leveling.
