The dreamgrove/priestesses/wardens would have been, no? Its just the Moon guard crew that wasn’t, because of the whole “we will kill you for doing magic” thing
Obviously the Azuna ghosts aren’t either.

Yes they absolutely are.
Tyrande is leader of all night elves. Citation: World of Warcraft: Ultimate Visual Guide, pg. 88 - 89
She is empress of night elves in everything but name.
I think they weren’t under the dome, so they were fine. Thalyssra’s explanation of the history of the Shal’dorei puts extra emphasis on them being cut off from moonlight and sunlight, and then needing to rely on the Nightwell as a result of their isolation, which then caused their physical change. The Moon Guard weren’t as confined, so they didn’t develop the specialized mana needs that the Shal’dorei did.
They would have had the same mana addiction the other elves did, but might have just toughed it out until only those who could get over it remained.
Even the Nelves likely still have it to some extent given they build moonwells anywhere they live.
Shh, don’t you know that Kaldorei are pure and upright and noble and definitely not addicted to any kind of magic, unlike those morally bankrupt Quel’dorei? /sarcasm
As Skycaller aluded to, there’s leylines all over the Broken Isles, and probably plenty of old artifacts from the days of Azshara’s empire. The Shal’dorei who were exiled couldn’t find relief from a magic source unless it was specifically ancient mana, as a side effect of their reliance on the Nightwell. The Moon Guard wouldn’t have had the same limitation, so they might have been able tap into nearby leylines for their needs.
I think it’s finally time to have the conversation that Legion lore is actually bad and most of the Broken Isles stuff actually sucked. Even if Suramar is pretty, it really doesn’t excuse its inclusion into the game based entirely on handwaving everything about it.
Everything there was pretty much wholecloth made up for Legion, given the broken isles were just a few scrappy isles with night elven ruins and some naga camps before then.
I can answer this. If you recall Moon Guard Stronghold, it was built long before Queen Azshara. Much like Suramar City, magic was not solely based on supply from the Well of Eternity, especially so far away.
The mages built both the city, stronghold, and outposts by tapping into the Ley Lines that crossed the area. They build Arcane Coils, much like the ones redirected to power shal’aran, to tap into these lines and sustain them. It became a resourceful and infinite form of power to supply the Moon Guard for thousands of years.
If you haven’t been to the stronghold in some time, revisit and you will see the coils i mention in the Athenaeum. There is also an arcane sanctum which is the first one of its kind to also tap into ley energy. If you recall in silvermoon how they use these sanctums as well.
The crystals that dot the stronghold were built by harvesting raw arcane energy that coalesced and crystalized into a battery of sorts allowing the mages to use for spells, work, etc thus they remained in operation in the broken isles.
My home, the Ley Ruins of Zarkhenar, was built solely to tap into this infinite power source for nourisment and sustainment for all arcane activities.
As far as why the forces of the broken isles didnt help during teldrassil or after, its more like their home was the forefront of the battle of the legion. Untold numbers of victims had to be laid to rest.
Val’sharah had to remain neutral because it is the spiritual center for druids. Cenarius would not just flip tables over to help so easily. Hyjal alone still suffers the scars of the cataclysm.
Remember, Teldrassil wasn’t a home of nature but one forged out of greed. It wont have the same support as other sites.
The Horde is where they always are in any story not about the faction war. Being left out and forgotten because Blizzard can’t be bothered to animate anyhting not human or elf for the cutscenes.
I just want to point out that’s not even entirely true, there’s druid orders that we first encountered in legion that’s present aiding the night elves in darkshore during BFA like the Druids of the Branch.
And others like the druids of the moon or antler that then later during DF move to the new night elven capital.
Not to mention the other druid orders that’s been part of regular kaldorei society since vanilla that’s present in Val’sharah like the druids of the claw, talon etc.
We also get the aid from a Teldrassil kaldorei living in Val’sharah during bfa in the alliance leatherworking questline to craft an item of power to fight the Horde.
In many ways Legion broke a lot of lore especially regarding the night elves. It make little sense that the night elves would have a decent settlement outside of Kalimdor during the long vigil, yet here we are, with several night elf orders having important holdings on the isle, and yet they never noticed the moon guard or nightborne hiding out somehow.
That’s why I think it was bad. Perhaps Azsuna was the only not terrible zone since it made sense for Night elf ghosts and blue dragons to be hiding out there. But I hated every other zone, especially Val’sharah and I feel it’s inclusion was to have an entirely underwhelming b-plot about the Nightmare so it wouldn’t feel like we only fought Legion.
Suramar was also a terrible inclusion. The Nightborne as a race feel completely contrived. Even if in a bubble Suramar was pretty and its questlines interesting, it hinges on no one noticing the giant dome of arcane energy at all, ever.
And don’t get me started on the not-moose people.
I sort of have.
I have asked for Cybernetic/Cyborg customizations - like Cable’s arm.
I hoped they would be available customizations for all races though.
I just think a Vulpera with robot arms would look cool. I have a Vulpera Hunter and a Vulpera Rogue and they are both Engineers. Robot arms would be cool.
I also have a Mechagnome Rogue and Hunter - I kind of like the robot vibe. I mildly RP my Mechagnome Rogue as sort of inspector gadget.
all Horde allied races are bad. We need Sethrak now.
Two days late but I can’t believe I forgot that the forsaken had absolutely nothing to do with the Lich King’s defeat.
Or the Blood Elves.
We were robbed absolutely robbed, So some MHP could do his one thing and then die in legion
Metzen is a MHP at heart so I am confused why so many fans are cheering him. He is the reason why the Horde is usually ignored in all non faction war related content.
I’m dying but I feel the need to comment on this part specifically:
Now I won’t claim that I know how blizzard’s development works or how in advance they commission written novels. That aside, there was an article at some point during shadowlands where whatever developer (ion or danuser) said that they brought bwonsamdi back because he was well received in bfa. I have to wonder if this is why we didn’t have Talanji present at all for anything regarding him and Muehzala. It almost feels like maybe Bwonsamdi wasn’t going to be written as a good guy, chaotically even, if they hadn’t seen the great reception around him.
Maybe I’m wrong, it’s just sat weirdly that we could get Huln showing up in the night fae area, but not the two most important troll leaders–Rokhan, Talanji, Ghost Rastakhan even-- appearing for a single questline regarding their loa.
It feels so strange.
Like one of those third world countries that chases away a dictator, goes a year with democracy, and then welcomes the dictator back with parades when democracy doesn’t solve all their problems.
People are strange.
Say what you want about Danuser or Kosak but they did their best on Sylvanas after Afrasiabi ruined her.
Metzen will just pull another wotlk and have the male human paladin get the final blow on the current big bad guy.
